New Story At Last: Darkness Before Dawn · 12:11pm Nov 15th, 2015
Kept you waiting, huh?
Two years ago, I completed the fourth and final act of Ad Mortem, Ad Vitam in time for the new year. Didn't do much else for a while after.
For over a year.
This year, I took on what I thought would be the third and final chapter of everything, which was titled New Gold Dawn until a few weeks ago, when I changed it to Elegia (thank you for introducing me to that song by the way, Hideo).
The pre-submitted work had five acts, but as soon as I saw a sixth act approach, it was time to do some cutting, and submit what is now called Darkness Before Dawn:
The Equestrians wake from their nightmare to discover a greater horror in the skies above Canterlot, the last omens before Tirek emerges from his centuries-long exile to finish his eons-long war against The Shepherd.
While Equestria prepares for the oncoming final battle, the Atlanteans bid farewell to their island nation, soon to be the first victim of the draconequus' undying hatred.
Finally, the Shepherd and her allies unite to bring down Tirek once and for all, making what could be their last stand among the ruins of the nation where it all began for Equestria and Atlantis three millennia ago.
The story is the only one I've written to date to merit the "Mature" tag, due to the graphic violence in Acts II and III (think Asuka's last stand in the orginal Evangelion). If you have your mature settings turned off, you won't see this one.
Ah. If only I finished this in time for Nightmare Night, huh?
Elegia is in-progress, with DBD's original Act V now the former's Act I. Act II is up next, and there may be an Act III. I do know how this whole mess ends, nonetheless.
In the meantime, feel free to turn off the lights for my latest and greatest.
Yours,
Lady Aubernon
