Have you ever noticed ponification romance fan fiction doesn't seem very popular? (Even hated quite a bit in some cases) As in a human turned pony story and human romances say Princess Celestia, Applejack or some other pony.
But it doesn't seem to get that much attention. It seems more people would rather the human remain human and have romance with a pony.
Why do you think that is?
Reasons...I actually don't know since I just read romance for the sake of romance. Maybe it's the ponies trying to make it so that us sexy humans will be attracted to them because of their human fetish!

Wat? I don't understand.
It takes away the point of being human... and also, the initial magic of the show wore off, more and more people start to regain their consciousness of 'being human is awesome', so, they won't like ponies as much.
3547601 A lot of your stories have ponies with a human fetish. People turning into ponies isn't what they want...you literally did a story on what I'm talking about.

Sounds about right. A lot of human hate has dropped down from a certain vocal minority. It's not like the old days anymore.
I love ponies. I wouldn't mind being one... temporarily. If I can't change back human, the deal is off.

Ah, now I understand. My story 'Only As A Pony' addressed that in a comedic way.
3547619 That's the one. Also being a pony would probably suck the first few days...or weeks considering we'd have to learn to walk again.
I think human/pony romances have more substance to them. Sure the ponified human may have some struggles adjusting to being a pony and maybe even loving one, but ultimately it is just pony/pony romance. A human and a pony have all of that and the trans-species obstacles they need to overcome. This, in my opinion, results in a relationship that feels more meaningful.

Plus it more errotic. And hands are amazing.
Plus human and pony hugs are just adorable.

Here's one that's quite popular (and bad).
Part of the reason is because it involves throwing away one's humanity. It's also the sort of thing some emo misanthropist kid would come up with (of which there are plenty around here). In such fics there's basically no challenges or conflict with swapping species, which is A) stupid and B) belies the wish-fulfilment nature on the part of the author.
I think there's also something inherently beautiful about romance transcending a species barrier, which transformation essentially throws away.
One other element is also probably several readers wanting to insert themselves into the character. Easier to do when that character is your species.

And those misanthropic stories tend to get many downvotes, thankfully.
Yeah. I'm a big fan of that. The Mass Effect games feature awesome romances like that.
Because ponification is a sin.
