3651888 Sims 3 fell victim to some extremely asinine DLC tactics EA enacted. The content of the base game is severely limited, forcing you to buy Sims Store stuff and expansion packs, to keep spending and spending on the game forever until a $50 game is $500.

Granted, with holiday sales, flash sales, etc. it's possible to get most if not all of the content much cheaper, but we're still talking past full retail for all the expansions.

My PC probably couldn't handle me installing so much software. It's a pretty barebones unit. I mostly only use it for writing and streaming, maybe a few flash games here and there.
