Bad news: this is going to take another few weeks to a month to fix. Arcanist Ascendant, your savior, pointed out a basic, crippling problem with this upcoming chapter, and then I noticed a couple more after taking a step back. I have to scrap most of this sucker.
I'm pretty sure the holidays, winter break, and my new job all came together to throw me off, or something. I don't know. What I'm saying is that I blame society.
If some part of the chapter is inconsequential enough that I can cut it entirely and never mention it again in the main story, I could always post it on the blog instead. Or not. We'll see if I care after I'm done with all this.
No worries, if it's good it's worth waiting for. We'll still be here.

Really, the quality of this chapter was just as good as the rest of the fic, but there was one thing that was really problematic. Sorry, guise. I won't say what it is since Ragnar didn't, but I think it's best this way.
3699400 I don't know about the part where it's as good as the rest of the fic. It has some good ideas and it's moderately fun, but it doesn't fit into the pacing, and, worse, it tells instead of shows in a key place. I need to take the time to do that scene justice, and it turns into a chapter in itself then that's just how it has to be.
For anyone who's really curious, AA's initial reaction is that nothing happens. He ain't wrong. The reason I didn't mention it in this blog itself is because I know some of you don't think of that as a flaw; to them I say, I know you don't, but we do. I have unrealistic expectations and I want him to as well, while he's editing my shit.

Like, there are some chapters where people are disappointed that 'nothing happens', but this was going to be an example where really nothing happens.
3699660 First of all, The Last Unicorn is the best goddamn thing. The BEST. Christ I love that book.
Second of all, my sister tried to kill herself four times, and my uncle succeeded. My reaction was to spend years wondering what I can possibly say to people who wish they were dead. I still have no idea, but first of all I'm inclined to respond seriously to jokes about that kind of thing just in case, and second of all, anyone who needs to talk, hit me up--with the understanding that after all these years I still don't know what to say except "I've got your back."
