Rainbow Dash's Actions · 11:03pm Jan 25th, 2016
OKAY! So the comments I've gotten so far have been interesting, but I'm honestly curious now. Who knows this could actually give me some thoughts on how to include the CMC into following chapters later. What do you guys think of Rainbow Dash's actions. When I was writing this chapter I made sure to do my best to make it look like things Dash would do without making it seem over dramatic or extreme. Also, Twilight slap. I have to say, that was the number one thing I had my focus on when writing this, getting that slap in was crucial to me so I could wrap up the tension and make an ultimate climax of feels out of it. Thoughts? Opinions? Comments?
Which reminds me. How do you think the CMC, Scootaloo especially will react when she finds out what Dash's actions caused?
Go ahead enlighten me.
Well like I said in the comment Twilight's slap, while initially expected and well deserved, surprised me. Just the manner at which Twilight went about it made it seem like she was calling her over for an embrace.
Rainbow's actions... They seem pretty in character, ignored advice till it was too late, when something made her look bad she made assumptions and tried to place the blame on someone else. It's almost comparative to "Trade ya" where she nearly sold Fluttershy for her own selfish gains.
Like in most stories Spike and Double's reactions were a little too slow (this is mainly my opinion though) when that Mare called Spike's name. I mean most people on the run trying to sneak about would dive for cover if their name was yelled out.
CMC? In this story? Hmm I haven't yet thought of it. Scootaloo's reaction... I'd say that it'd be pretty similar to her reaction in "No More Nightmares" where she tells Dash off says "That's not how heroes act" replacing 'Heroes' with 'Friends'. The other CMC I'd imagine had been good friends with Spike, and within their post child mindset they'd assume that Spike by relation no longer wants to see all of them, instead of just Rainbow, and be pretty cross at her, which probably would be pouring salt in an already infected wound.
I feel a bit sorry for Dash, I mean I know she was gung ho on taking him back, but at the same time she always said (at least to herself) that if he said no, she'd back off. I feel if he just listened, and maybe even had maybe a shouting match, he could have kept the job, RD not get slapped twice, and avoid 95% of the heartbreak.
But alas, what's done is done. As for the CMC, I know Scoots would be bummed as hell about Rainbow Dash. Even if she didn't know what happened, you can't miss a depressed Rainbow.
This last chapter felt like a huge misunderstanding, and it gives me the sad feels. I wonder where Spike will go next, how will the restaurant fare, will he ever be able to settle down back there, will he finally be able to keep up with letter writing, and more!
Looking forward to the next installment.
Edit: though I loved how the town pulled together to help him out. Also fun fact, I live in Baltimore. The less pony counterpart to that city
I'm not... sure why it got so bad? Like... Rainbow Dash even said that she would back off and Spike left anyway... Because he didn't trust her? It seems like Spike overreacted to her... So I'm a little confused by it.

Interesting perspective. But instead of me explaining, I'll just use chapter 7 to show why things went as far as they got to begin with.

I'll cover the restaurant in chapter 6 which I should post in about a fortnight or so. I have other stories I kinda need to update and have been taking a break from to think of what I wanted to happen next. Also I'm glad you see the entire scenario as one huge misunderstanding. That's what I intended to happen. But once again things will be cleared up in chapter 7, chapter 6 focuses more on Spike's co-workers and the town's relation to him.

I'm looking forward to typing up the CMC's responses to all of this. It'll be both entertaining and interesting for me as well to come up with their different reactions. Look forward to it, Chapter 7 has a lot to tell, Chapter 6 however gets a bit more personal though.
