Edit: I'm not calling anyone out or whatnot! I'm honestly just sharing a viewpoint ^o^
I've been having a thought lately regarding The Bridge owo
I've noticed something that comes up a slight bit with new readers and sometimes old readers is how much the story jumps around from character to character. An average amount of jumping per chapter is 3-4 unless it's a key point in the given arc. And yes, typically written stories don't do this.
However, I have an observation I'd like to share with those that have an issue with it: Look at it like you would an episode of a TV show/anime. owo
Take each chapter like an episode. A written episode, but an episode.
Episodes tend to jump from place to place depending on how big their story is (anime does this a lot). This way they can cover things that are happening at the same time from different viewpoints. It's a method that many (like myself and most likely Tarb) enjoy, for we can see more sides to the story. Ergo, this is what Tarb does to give you all more sides of the story.
Just think how confusing and longer the story would be if he didn't do this. Instead of having both this recent X and Aria Arc happen at the same time as the Baby Destroyah Incident, he'd have to write the entire Destroyah Incident, then go back and start the X and Aria Arc, despite them having started at the same time in-story. Confusing, innit?
Not to mention, it makes more sense that he ends on a cliffhanger 95% of the time (other than the fact he's a Grendelson (love yoooouu~ )). Much like an episode does, albeit the severity/weight of the cliffhanger varies.
Bridge is less a single movie than it is a serialized show. This story is huge (and is only gonna get bigger owo), so I am supportive of this method, and I hope this alternate look will help you support it too!
Just some random ramblings from your friendly neighborhood unicorn.
Thanks for reading!
I don't mind fillers if that's what you mean. I've gotten use to them since Bleach
I considered The Bride to be a story about the crossover, not about one or few characters in particular. The story isn't 'Godzilla in Equestria' or 'Monster X in Equestria Girls' It's about the two franchises as a whole going through the events.
I may sometime's wan't Tarb's blood for teasing us the way he does, but the man has more than earned the right to write the story how he see's fit, and I would not have it any other way.
I personally don't mind the cliffhangers and the changing perspectives, probably because I do the same thing with my fledgling fic, The Lost Hero.
Personally, I don't have a problem with the quickly switching narratives of the Bridge. So far, it seems a LOT more epic in scale compared to most episodes of MLP, and has a lot of ground to cover, considering the stakes of multiple worlds.
If anything, it reminds me of the Narrative style of "Game of Thrones", "Star Wars", or "Lord of the Rings", where we switch to multiple viewpoints in one sitting to cover a lot of ground, with few only on a singular narrative, and I like stories like that. It shows just how massive the realm you're trying to tell really is.
