I don't know what you're talking about, I've always looked like this.

I have decided · 1:29am Mar 18th, 2016

Despite deftly dodging the issue for basically the entirety of the story.

Male Griffons are Tiercals, females are Reeves and children are Cubs. Probably not going to break the habit now given I've been at it so long but its good as any other terms I could think up, I don't like the fact that I had to rely on terms from falconry since it emphasis the avian parts of Griffons too much for my liking. But any unique terms I came up with sounded too farcical for my liking and the main reason I've avoided it so long in the first place because conventional wisdom would have female griffons labelled as hens and that always struck the wrong cord with me for the same reason I don't like the falconry terminology only moreso, and that still left the males with the generic 'griffon' and the kids with 'fledgeling' or 'chick', with both seeming wholly inappropriate given that Griffons give live birth.

I mean technically griffon and griffoness is fair, like how humans are man and woman., but it's still generic sounding, Ponies have mare and stallion as names distinct from their species designation. but I guess we all can't be winners.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Its good the way it is to me mate.

Seems legit.

You could always use the terms from this story

The title of this blog post made me nervous for a second there... :twilightblush:

Personally, I've always thought that the male griffins would focus on their more mammalian qualities, while the females focused on the more avian qualities and the two would be equivalent to distinctions of 'masculinity' and 'femininity'

For example, a male griffin 'roars', a female griffin 'squawks or screeches', or at least that's how other griffins would describe it. 'He roared' and 'she squawked'. Or, as an insult, 'he squawked like a coward- as an equivalent to 'he screamed like a girl' or 'she roared' as a way to convey that a female griffin was shouting in an 'un-ladylike' fashion.

'preening' would be seen as a thing female griffins do, fussing over their feathers as an equivalent to a women fussing over their makeup.

And as such I figure griffin boys would be called 'Cubs' and griffin girls would indeed be called 'chicks'.

But that's just my guess.

I accept this idea.

My only suggestion is have Handy pursue a love life! I want PASSION! I want ROMANCE! I want hilarious hijinx of the rom-com style! XD

3813603 This is a great idea.

3813688 You and virtually my entire readerbase.

I believe it's spelled "t(i)ercel," but with outdated terminology like that, it's always hard to tell. Maybe it's local variation.

Personally, I always thought that "cub" was appropriate enough for the offspring, considering that their, uh, hind parts are great cat, but I suppose that also works.

3813712
What can I were suckers for it. XD

On a serious note, how do you feel about derivative works involving the story and universe you've set up here?

3813742 I've said this elsewhere but it bears repeating.

Bad Mondays already borrows heavily from the world created by Equestria Prevails, who allows people to use his works and inspirations from his works for whatever they want.

It'd be the height of hypocrisy for me to disallow others making derivative works from Bad Mondays in my turn then. So feel free to go nuts, just do not expect me to take whatever you've written as canon.

3813753
Really? I didn't know that. I guess I should also give Equestira Prevails a looksee as well!

And nah, the project I have been planning, I'd highly doubt you WOULD make it canon. I'm sorta doing something like, 'what if mlpfanfiction was combined with Sliders?'

3813759 Oh fair enough. Have fun.

3813761
I promise to send you a rough if I do include 'The Bad Monday's universe' though 'fore I post it. Just to get your a-okay.

3813712 I don't I want Handy to be happy that the last laugh to be his maybe learn his name and that he accomplish something productive with his land, romance only screams drama with all those green eye females and I don't know if the sparkling eye ones are included still dreading visions of Handy with a broken armor with a angry Luna to follow. :derpyderp2:

didn't Crimson eyes used to be blue? the art have her with green eyes but not the story
also I like it I don't like griffons to be called hens or chickens it doesn't feel right. :raritydespair:

Story is great anyways, but thumbs up for going abover and beyonder with it.

JBL

So... when Flo Rida said to put your hand in the eya, e-eya... he meant something completely different... :twilightoops:

I used Tom and Hen for the male and female griffons, but going with those is fine too. We each have our own way of saying things anyway.

3813570 Its why I'm not changing it in story, just decided to finally make a decision on the matter.

3813572 Lies.

3813583 Haven't read it, what are the terms it uses?

3813603 Not a bad idea but its been pretty well established since the prologue when Handy had his first conversation with Johan that griffons really do not like the comparisons to lions or birds in general.

3813721 There are already non-eagle griffons in the story and a few have been pointed out whenever Handy remarks it as a distinct feature of a griffon he meets. Generally speaking there are a lot of griffons who have similarities to other birds of prey and several who dont seem to have any overt resemblance to any species Handy knows off hand and just vaguely resemble eagles. Some are Hawkish, others Eagles, some falcons etc etc, but generally the differences are cosmetic but nothing as extremely different as, say, one being turkey-necked or some such.

As for those images, some of those creatures are downright disturbing.

3813724 From what I've seen both spellings are correct. Cub is probably a better one now that I think about it for the kids, I'll use it instead.

3813763 Fair enough.

3813874 ...ok?

3813890 Thank you.

3813953 What?

3814114 Why Tom? Is it like Tomcat?

3813742

On a serious note, how do you feel about derivative works involving the story and universe you've set up here?

Write all the porn.

DO IT.

I can't be the only one with horse porn of this story.

I don't have a problem, you have a problem.

3814539 YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH

3814539
3814554

I don't know, he DOES have a point, there is a DEMAND for it. And who am I to deny the masses what they want.

3814561 I WILL KILL YOU WILL, I WAS ON DEVIANTART WHEN ARTISTS AT THE READY WAS STILL A NEW THING, I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!

3814561 Good. Good.

Let them cum. Handyman won't finish it.

3814582 Shhh, shh.

Don't worry about it bby

3814574
Oh SHIT. You actually KNOW about that? Holy shit.

3814592 I actually tried to compete in it,

3814595
AATR1 or AATR 2? Btw did you know a 4th one is going on right now? Crazy.

Actually I find it hilarious that somebody knows me from that. I don't suppose you've actually read my stories too? XD

3814609 AATR 1, its was probably my last serious attempt to get in on the Original Character Tournament scene before I finally lost heart with the whole bullshit, I think I was part pressured into it by some friends. I was aware of you because you partnered up with this other famous artist who I have since long forgotten and I was in the IRC a few times when you popped in,

3814623
Ah yes, Rockdeadman. He's vanished from the online scene due to living conditions. And yeah I get ya, OCTs have lost their flavor for me as well. Now all I worry about is writing fanfictions and trying to get a book published. Still its nice to meet someone from the past about stuff like that. :)

3813712 Handyman X Useless Brick
3813721 I'm pretty sure about half of those are Pokémon.

...Hmn. Bad Mondays is like my alcohol fix; there's nothing I can do about it, but want moar of everything.

3814500

Male: Tiercel

Female: Eagless

Young/Child: Cub/Hatchling (NOTE: Interchangeable)

3814500 oh I was talking from the first episodes they short of states everyone with green eyes will end up helping Handy as a companion at some point and the ones with a shine are there to support him in some way, I was also talking about the first chapter sneak peak at the future have you forgotten that?

anyway keep up the a good job! :yay:
lo que sera sera :derpytongue2:

Call the male griffons 'starks' and the female griffons 'messen'. 'Stark' is the German term for strong, 'messe' is the German word for fair.

Fuck it I dunno I've been drinking quite a bit.

Also ffs don't scare me with that blog post title I've invested way too much time into your story to have it fall away now.

media.tumblr.com/ccf9757d56068e4501707d44b4d879b4/tumblr_inline_n8w0amt3Sv1s3hfh8.png

3814500 Yea, tom for the feline side, hen for the avian side

3814500 When I came across that part I got the impression that griffins didn’t like other species making the comparison, rather than any such comparisons having no actual basis in truth. Mostly because they were talking about the ‘meat issue’ and he immediately accused handy of racism when he thought the guy was judging him for being a meat eater like the ponies do.

The best insults are based in truth after all, and If the more speciest ponies started trying to imbue connotations on the griffins real traits, equating them to being primitive like how humans use the term and comparison to 'apes' as an insult, it would be a lot more effective than simply making up stereotypes in the hope that some will stick.

Then all it would take is the right amount of ponies with a superiority complex drawing attention to those natural traits as a way of accusing them of being 'primitive' (and thus inferior) before the Griffins develop a collective complex about it.

But, again, that's just my guess.
