Batmare Begins: Character and Location Imagery Guide · 9:36pm Mar 29th, 2016

Afternoon everyone! So after my latest slew of chapter updates from this past weekend, I figured I ought to give you guys some visual guides to some of the new characters as well as what process went into choosing some of the places for new locations in Ponyville. So in this blog, I'll be showing you Commissioner Cirrus Gust, Officer Spring Frost, Officer Sun Flowers, Midnight Marvel, Snowflake, Firecracker, and Silver Sunrise.

The interesting part is that these are images I actually use and reference while writing. I make no claim to be an illustrator, these are all created by me in Pony Creator which I find to be a very helpful source as an author for allowing me to give myself some visual references for my OC's in the fic. Obviously you can visualize them looking differently than these particular versions, since of course I'm limited in some of the choices I can make in Pony Creator, but this should give you a general idea of what the characters look like.

As far as location goes, I actually managed to track down an aerial map of Ponyville (there's actually a couple, but this was the best one I found) which, as you can see, shows that most of the south-eastern part of town beyond what I'm calling the Smith River which, in my fic, is where the South Side has grown up, in the show is actually undeveloped for the most part (because Internet fandoms are wonderful that way :trollestia:). So yeah, in case you were wondering, I did not just arbitrarily decide to call it the South Side because South = generically bad (especially if we're thinking Chicago's South Side), I did my research and it turned out that that was the most logical place in town for new developments of that scale, to the point that we see a new neighborhood cropping up, taking place. So just imagine after looking at that image that in the southeastern part of Ponyville, Carousel Boutique is no longer the only major structure there, bunch of the trees on that side have been cleared, and a neighborhood almost as large as the old part of town across the river is there, albeit considerably less nice. Hope these little reference guides help, and have a nice day everyone!
