A Lesson In Common Courtesy · 9:19pm Aug 28th, 2012
Dear people who have faved My Little Mages, I have noticed a discrepancy.
Thirty-five (35) faves versus twenty-six (26) upvotes.
Come on, really? If you fave it, give it an upvote! Common courtesy, people!
To all my watchers who haven't read My Little Mages: Please go do that.
The finale goes up tomorrow.
Looking forward to it!
But favourites don't work that way anymore. Ever since the great tracking/favouriting debacle of 2012, favouriting carries no implications other than "I want to continue reading this". The final judgement on the quality of the story comes with the vote, which at least I only give once the story is completed or once it has proven itself exceptional in either direction.
And, yes, there have been stories which I've favourited (to continue reading to the end) but where the ending turned out so bad they got a downvote.
Eh if I'm gonna fav and get notifications on a story I'm gonna give it a like as well.
I get that all the time. I'd rather have the upvotes than favs, but people are faving to track a story and don't care about the votes... It keeps so many good stories from getting noticed.

Yeah, this. Tracking already says 'I like your story', and I save thumbs-ups for stories I super-double like. (Or sometimes, if I run across a story that doesn't hold my attention but the writer has potential and I want to encourage qem to keep practicing, I'll drop a thumbs-up without tracking, which kind of messes the whole thing up but whatever.)
Is it wrong of me to say that you update it so fast that I haven't had the time to read it.
