Where I Hang My Hat · 8:15pm Apr 5th, 2016

I'll admit: a sizeable portion of my time playing Fallout 4 has been focused on settlements. I am by no means the best or most creative settlement builder, but I thoroughly enjoy playing with that element of the game. (Real Time Settler was one of my favorite mods for Fallout 3.) So I have really been looking forwards to this:

The trailer just dropped today, and the DLC is due out next week. :rainbowdetermined2:

Below, I've included a few screenshots of Angel's settlements. Click the pictures if you wish to see larger versions of the images. All settlements are still works in progress.

Hangman's Alley

Starlight

Greygarden

County Crossing

Oberland Station

As a side note: I may have said this before, but the one Fallout: Equestria mod that I would really like to see for Fallout 4 is a "Junction R7" settlement. None of the settlements that I have found so far allow us to use train cars.

If you are playing Fallout 4, show me the settlements you have most enjoyed building. :raritywink: Which "player homes" from Fo:E side stories do you think would make great settlement additions through mods?

It looks amazing. I really can't wait.:pinkiesad2:

Junction R7 would be rad :rainbowkiss:

I'm envy people who could build cool and unique settlements. I'm myself usually ending up with some square fortresses :).

Holy crap, it's like a wasteland resort... My settlements are little rag-tag towns with the basic amenities xD

I should work on settlements with a bit more love next time I play.

Only a week!? Damn...Time flies.

Also, I too would also love a Junction R7 settlement...Put the idea out to the lovely modders and hope for the best!

your reat kkat

I'm not sure how to feel about Fallout 4's settlements. When I first saw them in the previews, I thought "gee, that seems like a cool side activity. I can't say I'm really interested, but I might do a bit of it." Turns out it's a huge part of the game, almost replacing NPC towns entirely, and I (still) have no interest in it whatsoever. To me, Settlement building is just a Fallout-themed town-builder minigame blown way out of proportion, and has no tie in to the kind of RPG, questing or exploration gameplay that I was looking forward to.

On the other hoof, many people really enjoy settlement building and spends tons of hours building some cool-looking stuff. I just wish that it wasn't made to be such a big part of the game.

Anyways, I'm gonna bet that modders are going to copy and implement all the things in the trailer before the DLC actually comes out. I know some of it looks like it requires scripting, but I don't think that'll stop anyone from trying anyways. Future-piracy, anyone?

Can I finally build a decent wall around a settlement now? I've been getting by using the concrete floor bases and the junk fences.

I'll only be playing it for the achievements, I myself don't like the settlement building. Maybe because I'm not that good of a builder, or maybe because I it tiresome to get lots of supplies, but this one just looks meh. Far Harbour is what I'm looking forward to, the first full DLC addon for Fallout 4.

Oooh, looks like Greygarden has an interesting setup on the overpass. Could it possibly be a roomy place for Angel to set up her stuff with a large overlooking view or possibly another base set up for the Minutemen?

Certainly seems like your making use of the wind turbines for you settlements.

A really cool mod would be the ability to delegate a 'mayor' of a settlement you own, and they begin to make and grow the town via pre-fab buildings dependent on their personality.

Marefront from Heroes. That one shouldn't be too hard to make in the workshop.

3850402 What I hate about it is that most characters shouldn't even bother. You need *6* points in CHA (an otherwise useless stat) for local leader, and without that settlements are a complete waste of time.

My most recent character never even joined the Minutemen because why bother?

using train cars would be awesome XD

3850421 Junk fences are horrible. If using just vanilla options, then the concrete foundations work quite nicely, as do the most solid-looking of the metal or wooden walls. However, you might really like the Snap n' Build mod, which adds brick walls as an option, or the Homemaker mod, which gives chain-link fences (both rusted and pre-war varieties) as well as other options.

That sounds awesome.
Unfortunately I am a filthy console peasant, as opposed to the majority of people who seem to be of the PC MasterRace
So I'm SOL

a "Junction R7" settlement

Yes please, would be the perfect modding opportunity with settlement building. With train cars we should also be able to drop them on enemies :raritywink: I like your thinking :moustache:
Wasteland Workshop looks neat. I didn't know the DLC trailer for it was released already. Thank you! Gets me a bit excited with these timely releases of add-ons. Good stuff and hype.

Which "player homes" from Fo:E side stories do you think would make great settlement additions through mods?

Now that you mention it:

From Fallout: Equestria
New Appleloosa
Glyphmark
Arbu

From Fallout: Equestria - Project Horizons
Chapel
Star House

Have you used the Spring Cleaning Mod?

Dang those are nice. I'm not much of a settlement builder. I usually leave some creative yet simple security with basic provisions and never come back unless Preston asks me to.

On another note, I wonder how many creature cages we'll be limited to? Because I'm tempted to set up a mechanism that is basically "Pull lever to begin cat-pocalypse."

I'm pretty proud of my settlements, but I got too many too soon (I think I currently have all of them) so more than a few of them are below code for defenses and a few other things. I would show off a few, but I play PS4 version and I've never tried putting the pics on my computer so that might take a while if it's possible. Also dealing with the build limit sucks, especially with Starlight Drive-In. :fluttershysad:

3851594 I agree about the building limit. One of my first mods was one that removes that.

3850928 Absolutely! :coolphoto:

I actually enjoy building up settlements more than I thought. Sadly, I have so many settlements that I don't know which one to go to next. So far I only have Sanctuary Hills up an running with some actual defense. I usually end up burning through all of my resources when trying to improve a settlement I haven't done anything to. Then I get lazy and go do something else in the game. :facehoof:

I do have plans to make a Hall of Armor for all my power armor though. Ironman would approve of this idea. :moustache:

As for the next DLC. I actually want to build a giant arena and let things fight to the death. Let the fun begin. :trollestia:

I was always a fan of building up Abernathy farm. If you have the patience you can build a staircase all the way up to the top of the tower, even in vanilla Fallout, then build a bit of a nest. Plus all the extra space given at the front is perfect for crops, and all the ugly generators and such can go behind the house.
