I Need A Focus Buddy · 7:27pm Jun 10th, 2016

I can't focus for fucking shit. It breaks my heart, in a first-world problem-y way. I have hundreds of ideas I want you guys to read, and no drive to write them down, or at least finish writing them down. Help?

Go on... Oh, oh, oh, send some ideas via private messages!

4013216 What sort of stuff piques your interests?

First: sit down.

Second: write all your ideas down. Not necessarily in detail, but just enough to know what you had in mind for them.

Third: go through them and find out which one you want to write the most.

Forth: decide when to get them done (preferably soon, if you have little drive to write). Just sit down and start. Even if you don't feel like it, you may begin to enjoy it a little more as you move along.

This technique works well for me, but I'm not sure about other people. Give it a shot, it might work for you, as well.

Hope this helped.

4013220 You'd be surprised. I am a kinky mare. ;)

Write them all down with a brief description of what you want to happen, and store that somewhere

pick which one interests you the most, and start working on it

set aside an hour every day where you do nothing but focus on writing. shut off all chat and IM clients, avoid all social media, turn on some music if it helps, grab your favorite relaxing drink, and start writing for an hour. Don't worry about the word count, just write. after the hour is up, if you're on a roll, keep going, but otherwise give yourself a break.

make this a routine and eventually the words will come easier, and pretty soon you'll be plowing through that list.1

Be patient, though. Writing can be a slow art. Also, if you want someone to cross progress with, I am searching for something similar. We would message each other any time we finished a chapter and ask the other to look it over and respond with constructive criticism. it would be a great way to keep us both motivated and both in practice.
