I'll be honest, the changeling larva scene was amazing.
It was probably Flurryheart radiating Friendship Magic (which is a quantifiable force) that caused Spike's song and everypony instantly flipping like a switch from hate to love without any degree of lingering mistrust or wariness.
Jeeze, they should design some kind of faraday shield for her, lest she grow up causing instant personality changes wherever she goes.
I wouldn't call the Ling shy more like having a very good reason to not want to walk up to ponies who would either kill him or imprison him.
So not shy just being smart and not wanting to be attacked.
But yes the song was annoying and way out of place
