You know, Roses and Violets has long since taken form in my mind and now that I know what's going to happen, and all I can say is... It doesn't really belong in the EG universe/continuity. I'll give it an AU tag tomorrow. And it should be something else, too.
Vinyl's disease (protein deficiency) kind of came from nowhere. I legit pulled it out of my ass. But... What if Vinyl Scratch wasn't Vinyl Scratch? What if she was... Vicky Thatch? That's a pretty off the wall name, suitable for a DJ. DJ Th@ch would do hardstyle instead of dubstep. And what if I made her mute instead of weak, like Vinyl is supposed to be?
And what if Roma wasn't Roma Heart, but Roman Earhart? And if Octavia Melody was Alivia Song and played guitar instead of cello? If Applejack was Abigail Vino and her family had a vineyard and made wine? If Mac was Jack? If Chrysalis Queen was Christine Blake? If Pinkie Pie was Paulette? If Trixie Lulamoon was Trisha Luxembourg? If Fluttershy was Felicity May? If Rarity was Rebecca? If Sunset was... I dunno, something that sounds like Sunset? Maybe she'd stay Sunset. If everyone had human colored skin, and the story was written way better and the characters weren't so edgy?
I think we all know where I'm going with this. I think that once I get RaV finished, I'm going to repurpose it and adapt it into an original novel. I think it would work pretty well. I may actually go ahead and start. The two will probably diverge about the time they decide to bring Twilight in. The repurposed version would be in third person instead of first, and it'll be a bit more focused on the slice of life genre, while still being just as a much of a romance as it is now. As such, it will definitely be longer and will probably be much more enjoyable. Would you folks shell out eight or nine bucks for it? Bear in mind that RaV isn't even halfway done yet, and the adaptation is going to be even longer and be better written. Let me know if you decide this is worth commenting on.
