Top Ten Potential New Members of The CMC · 12:37am Nov 14th, 2016

I suppose I should explain what I mean by "potential new members" considering I already did a Top Ten for colts and fillies, and ranked the CMC including Gabby and Babs. This list is exploring ponies that haven't officially joined the CMC yet in canon, but have a strong potential to do so or could benefit from being included. I did a similar list to this a year ago involving ponies who could replace Babs Seed for the fourth member, but Babs really doesn't deserve to be forgotten and I'm really hoping she makes her long overdo return in Season 7. Like always, these lists are not official by any means.

10. Button Mash
This would largely be to make up for JanAnimations' "Button's Adventures" that was hit with a C&D from Hasbro after just one episode, especially since in response to that Hasbro put him into the background in Season 5 (but seemed to once again ignore him in Season 6). I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be possible to find someone who sounds like ShaddyVox, but hopefully whoever could get the official nod could do well enough.

9. Dinky Doo
She hasn't had a speaking role yet, and she appears to be a very popular background filly, because the animators keep having her with all kinds of different older ponies. "Flutter Brutter" had her with somepony who wasn't Carrot Top, Noteworthy, or Sparkler, who alongside Derpy are usually considered her family by the fandom (Carrot Top and Noteworthy are the most popular alternatives for Dinky parents, and back in the days of Seasons 2 and 3, it was a pretty common headcanon that Sparkler was Dinky's big sister). Whether or not her joining the CMC would mean we'd finally learn who's in charge of raising her, is a different question all together.

8. Ruby Pinch
Dinky's pallet swap, she's got a little more potential since she's been seen in Cheerilee's class and even got a speaking role back in "Ponyville Confidential", so chances are she already at least knows about the CMC. I don't know if the fandom conesus is still set on Berry Punch being her mother, or if somepony else has become an acceptable alternative among fans. Plus, it would probably help give Cathy Wesluck more frequent speaking roles (Spike had three episodes in a row this season where he didn't speak and he was absent from ten episodes this season) since she voiced Ruby in her appearance in "Ponyville Confidential".

7. Featherweight
Having a colt join the CMC would be interesting and a nice change up (though I can imagine some people would make jokes about said colt being the Spike of the group, regardless of role). Featherweight already has his cutie mark, but he's proven popular enough to get his own character tag and there are a few toy ships featuring him. Maybe he could join them hoping to get an interview from them, with Spoiled Rich secretly paying him to find something to use to discredit their reputation out of spite for them befriending her daughter, and Featherweight either finding nothing or outsmarting Spoiled if he did something?

6. Twist
Her VA didn't completely rule out returning to voice Twist in an interview she gave on Equestria Daily a few months back. Since she was friends with Chantel Strand and Shanon Chan-Kent who voice Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon respectively, I can understand why DHX may not be willing to recast the role, hence why Twist misses out on the top five. She's largely wishful thinking, but her joining the CMC would be a nice way for them to confirm Apple Bloom didn't stop hanging out with Twist simply because she got her cutie mark.

5. Pipsqueak
While he probably owes the CMC for their services in helping get him elected student president, I think we'd first need to see how well Pipsqueak does in the elected office, and if he can truly manage on his own, before having him decide whether or not he should be part of the CMC. I can imagine he'd be shocked to learn that the CMC aren't just friends with Princess Twilight, but also a griffon. Hey, being a CMC comes with its perks.

4. Tender Taps
He was remembered in "The Fault in Our Cutie Marks", though he seems pretty content with his life at the moment. Him joining the CMC would be more for his own benefit, especially in regards to helping him stand out more in the eyes of the fandom. Plus, since he was seen tap dancing for crowds in "The Fault in Our Cutie Marks" he could probably help increase their chances of finding cutie mark problems to address.

3. Rumble
Of the blank flank colts currently available, Rumble's got the most potential as a member of the CMC. He's already got an established older sibling in the form of Thunderlane, to go along with Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash (all three of which I believe have been shipped with Thunderlane at least once, though none of them are insanely popular. Even at its peak RariLane still paled in comparison to Sparity and RariPants), as well as The Cloud Twins which fanon works often depict either as his foalsitters or friends of his brother. Plus, it would probably give Rumbleloo shippers more fuel.

2. Silver Spoon
Silver Spoon is practically begging for any sort of role that can define her as something besides Diamond Tiara's gal pal and lackey, now that Diamond Tiara has turned over a new leaf. This season gave us some canon confirmation of her cooking skills, and that her cutie mark isn't just for show. It actually would be interesting to see what Silver Spoon thinks of the CMC for helping Diamond Tiara to change and patch things up. Is she still somewhat hostile towards them for any reason, or at the least does she consider them worthy of respect?

1. Diamond Tiara
Is it any surprise she'd be number one? Headcanon wise, I already consider her an honorary member, but she just doesn't attend a lot of the meetings, but in terms of show she's got nothing post redemption and that really needs to change. Adding Diamond to the CMC's ranks would be a major improvement, and give them a chance to succeed where Starlight Glimmer's redemption showcase failed, give the "reformed antagonist" more of a spotlight during her transition arc.
