    Updates and Chatting

Yeah. Yeah. Been a while without an update. Heck. This would have been posted last week if I hadn't gotten very sick.

    Unofficial Official Dazzlings Fan Page

Almost forgot to share this here. Check out my Dazzlings fan page I made for my CSS class. I'll be honest, it only took about seven or eight hours to make after I picked out which pictures I was going to use. All of the colors are based on the Dazzlings. I just have to fix the top paragraph for the gallery, but the page

    Small Website Preview

In my last post, I brought up the web design project I have to do for a class in CSS. I finally settled on the idea: a fan page for The Dazzlings. It's going to be a bit of a parody, treating them like they are real/written in EqG Universe. I don't have any of the pages templated yet, but I have the content written up since we have to provide 'real' text and not filler.

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." - Shigeru Miyamoto

Not that having nothing to show is better than nothing... Sorry, Shigeru. So, here is something I can share that I have been working on this past month. I don't mind having my name get out. I'll always be Wanderer (even if I messed that part up for a couple hours when changing my Twitter display name recently).
Anyway! That is a site (with predetermined content) that I have to write the CSS for. Except for some of the files and images used on some of the projects, everything else has been made by me. Including having to resize all those pics for the image gallery. The one thing I haven't finished is the final project. For that, we have to redesign a website or make an original themed set of small pages. I want to do the set of pages. I'm leaning towards doing fan pages for either MLP, SU, or Nintendo. I am even considering doing a few character bios for TWP, SCS, DD original characters. That last one would need me to make original art of TWP, Starlight, and Dawn and come up with a standard bio that could be written for any character and when if I share that, then everyone would want the same thing for Del, Dusk, Dashing, Daphne, and the characters whose name don't start with "D". Just throwing out ideas and seeing what sticks.

The even more impressive thing that I've been working on since August was designing a processor in my assembly language class. We started with transistors on day one and used those to build logic gates and those to build adders, flip-flops, and registers and those to build a toy processor with a simple ALU and small register bank. We just spent the last three weeks writing the microcode for the processor. It was really fun seeing the growth of the circuit along the way.

In other news, yesterday was my birthday. I usually post that I've written a chapter for one of my stories that I thought would be really fun or had special meaning to me. Unfortunately, my damn writer's block got a bonus hit from the recent US political news. I was prepared to write a very special episode of SCS starring Daring Do and revealing what her subplot has been to date. And yes, I would have posted that chapter ASAP. I was also preparing to announce the details of a new, massive project. Sadly, I've just been too overwhelmed and more lost, uncertain than ever to work on any of those until now.

Since I have some time (assuming I can set down Pokémon Sun after Friday), I should be able to start working on (finishing) the current chapter I'm stuck on, starting the Daring Do chapter, and starting the project.

Still, you're probably asking what the project is. Well, it is something I have been thinking about for a while now. I want to revamp TWP. Not a total rewrite. More of an updated version with some pruning. I don't have a spec sheet drawn up yet, but the plan is: rewrite some chapters, update almost all of the chapters to fit season 6, designate some chapters as gaiden/side stories, designate some chapters as non-TWP canon, cut TWP's love polygon in half, start TWP x Twi sooner, start future plotlines sooner, add more call forwards, and more. For example: I want to rewrite the first Daring Do chapter to be set in her past. Instead of Daring becoming time displaced in the end, it has adult Daring becoming a semi-regular cast member. I also want to add Quibble to the story for a comedic subplot where he is nitpicking the whole time travel adventure and mocking the tropes in the chapter. Basically, have him and Rainbow do what they did in Stranger Than Fan Fiction.
That is about the gist of what I want to do. I will share the spec sheet when it is written and take suggestions based on that.

... Phew. That was a lot to put out there right now.

One last thing. I have a Discord server that I use to chat with friends. Gonna put a limited invite here in case anyone wants to join. Or you can just add WanderingPhysicist#3936 to your friends list.

Other than that, I don't have much else right now. Hope all of you are doing well.

Keep being awesome!

(Also, if any of my Canadian followers knows how to get in touch with Trudeau, I want to see about California getting annexed by your great nation.)

That reminds me of something I tried to do many many years ago, due to being brought up on non mainstream cmputing philosophy.

A zero instruction processor. Because it only has one instruction, and thats implicit. Depending on your definition of instruction. The big advantage being it doesnt matter how complex it gets, the instruction set remains the same size.

On that I was thinking maybe a stream sliced morse/nibble OS.

Something thats puzzled me since I did my first and only website 1 BG, img src=image width, image height. url. You dont know the display set up of the client until it calls, so either its bouncing the stuff to and fro, hello DDOS, or you dont overload the client side scaling with lots of junk because they couldnt implement a decent JPEG scaling decode function given that apprently JPEG2000 managed to have the idea of the DCTs macroblock first sample fr the thumbnail?

As for the updating, rewriting and editing chapters, please consider the effort the commenaters might have put into things, especially detailed thoughtful comments. You have the power of Mod to totally obliterate all history associated with your stories.

Ah, great to hear from you again, it's been quite a while. While you might not care about your name being out there now, I think I'll still call you Wanderer, it feels more fitting. Good to see you're keeping busy (unlike a certain lazy sphinx). And, congrats on learning how to build toy processors. Somehow, I get the feeling it probably works better than what I have.

Oh, it was your birthday? Well, happy birthday! For your present I'll see about getting Trudeau to annex California. I'm sure he'll be pleased to hear you want to join our great (Trump-free) nation.

Ah... so you plan on updating the hundred or so chapters in TWP, good luck with that. I do look forward to reading the updated version though. Anyways, hope you had a good birthday. Until next time,

4303760 Getting reader input and expectations is one of the reasons I am planning on creating as thorough a spec sheet as possible. Just going by memory, most chapters will just get a coat of paint and remain virtually untouched. I mostly want to clean up the language, add more details, work in other aspects, that sort of thing. Aside from the example above, the only chapter I plan on massively rewriting are the first CMC one, taking the CMC from the antagonist spot and adding a ton of call forwards. Some chapters will get shuffled to gaiden or non-TWP canon, but they won't be deleted. Example of a gaiden chapter: the one where Scootaloo's family escapes her dad. Her story is needed for later developments, but the DT story was basically neutered by show canon. (Although, I was happy partially calling her vs Silver's fight.) Example of non-TWP canon: the Nightmare Moon one, which I think is labeled non canon already. Unless I see something completely bizarre and out of place when working on my notes, I want to avoid rewrites as much as possible. And if I do feel the need to rewrite, I will have reasons justifying why.

I hope that clears up my intentions a bit. Once I have all my notes and specs written up, I'll post them for review before I start work. I want as much input possible before screwing everything up.
