100th Anniversary of the Sinking of HMHS Britannic · 10:50pm Nov 20th, 2016
On the 21st of November 1916 the HMHS Britannic sank off the coast of Kea Island in the Kea Channel in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Britannic was the last of the Olympic Class liners built and the younger sister to Titanic as she was launched in 1914. Britannic was redesigned and refitted with newer safety features and upgrades that was supposed to make her able to survive what Titanic didn't but after hitting a Mine, Britannic sank in a third of the time that it took Titanic to sink. This was largely due to the fact the ship capsized.
To honour the HMHS Britannic for her 100th Anniversary I have updated my drawing of her that I've done using MS Paint.
I have a book that covered the sinking of the Britannic and it said that the sinking was hastened by numerous portholes being left open.
