    Arms and Armament

So, I was catching up on some blog posts this morning, and happened upon one which discussed the way objects can reflect characters, and happened to use their choices of weapons as an example. Which set me off down the track of contemplating what, in Equestria's earlier and rather rougher pieces of history, might our favorite protagonists arm themselves with should such warlike preparations be

    Color Coordination

Given the full-spectrum range of coat and mane colors among Equestrian ponies, can you imagine the trouble planners of any sort of public event that needs a seating chart must have? Not only do they have to take into account all the same considerations that we do, but Earthly event planners don't have to worry about accidentally creating eye-wateringly bad color combinations by accident.

    Military Controversy

Is the basic earth pony military unit infantry, or cavalry?

Please overthink as much as possible, then justify your answers.

I've been conlanging some more, and since some of the words this time are of Advancedverse relevance, thought I'd drop a pointer here.

Today's Hideous Crack Fic Idea Free For The Taking · 11:38pm Dec 30th, 2016

So, thanks to Netflix finally catching up with S6 episodes a while back, we caught up with the state of the pony here in the Nova household, and then finished out the timeline with Legend of Everfree last night.

Which naturally led to some speculation regarding those crystals from the cave and their most obvious Equestrian parallel, the Elements of Harmony. With the point of speculation obviously being, well, there are seven of them. So what's the other one, and which one of Sunset and Sci-Twi is that world's Magic, and what's the other one?

It is to guess wildly. But that's all normal, no crack here. The crack came from my subconscious as of last night's dreaming...

So, yeah. Roll back the timeline to when the Elements were still a thing and hadn't been returned to the Tree of Harmony. Now picture a nemesis so Great and Powerful that not only does said nemesis manage to steal the Elements, it manages to shatter the Elements, badly enough that they won't just reassemble themselves, at least not in time to be of any use.

Fortunately, all is not lost. There is a Spell! Ritual! Quest! Thing! that can restore them. (My dream had it that this was a Star Swirl the Bearded creation just in case Celestia and Luna's showdown with Discord didn't go right and they needed to fix up the Elements for a second go. Or someone did, anyway. This conveniently explains the flaw we're about to get to, since from what we know about him it seems safe to say that Star Swirl did not have the greatest grasp, shall we say, on how ponies actually work.)

The flaw is that the spell/ritual/quest/thing - if you check into the undocumented features - depends on the Bearers of the Elements as templates to use in reconstituting them. Because, obviously, the Bearers of the Elements surely must be living exemplars of their Element, otherwise they'd never have been selected to bear them, right? So equally obviously, it's safe to assume that that will always be the supremely dominant personality trait that the s/r/q/t can use to build the nucleus of the restored Element.

(Oh, Star Swirl. You're adorable.)

So the current Bearers have to use the ritual...

...and then the universe is forced to rebalance itself when the metaphysical pillars upholding Harmony, all of a sudden, are replaced by Apples, Introversion, Parties, Fabulosity, Awesomeness, and Books.

Wacky fun ensues.

This is...hilarious just on it's own. The only way it could be better would be if the whole S!/R!/Q!/T! caused the Elements to spawn from the aspects of the Bearers that make them suitable for wearing the Elements.

Hilarity would ensue.
