Finally an adult · 12:44pm Feb 23rd, 2017
I'm 18 and I don't feel different.
Go me, on this day, the day of my birth, February 23rd. An adult most adults wont take seriously until I'm at least twenty three.

Happy birthday.
As a Twenty One year old myself, I completely understand. I'm of the opinion that age doesn't really matter as long as you enjoy being you.
With that said, I'd like to wish you a Happy Birthday anyway
I'll be 24 next month and people still don't take me seriously, even though I look 30.
I'm 30+1, a security supervisor and most people don't take me seriously.
Don't take it... seriously.
In all fairness however a lot of it depends on you bearing, composure and how much experience the other person thinks you have. As a woman you may have an even harder uphill battle than a man would in the same position.
All I can say is keep trying and if it gets to be just stupid, let management know you don't feel like you're getting the respect you deserve. Be damn sure you've earned it before doing so, if you got a good boss they may try to help in some way. If you get brushed off? Start looking for a new job.
Hell it wasn't until last summer when my mother saw first hand how hard I work that I started getting respect for what I do. After all, how hard can being a night supervisor really be?
