Muses are Hard to Find · 12:22am Mar 4th, 2017
Since finishing Bane, I've been mentally drained. It was a satisfying, but exhausting story to write. After sitting back and seeing the reaction from readers on this site, I've felt as though I had put so much into writing the story, that it left me drained. As a result, there have been no updates and I would like to apologize to my readers for the lack of writing from my end.
I am considering dropping my Patreon account. I appreciate the support I've received there, but I feel as though I have let my contributors down by not writing as much as I should. I get distracted easily by other things in life and that isn't right for those who thought to donate towards my writing. I apologize for that (it's a total of two people). I feel if folks are going to give me their money, I need to do something to show that I am earning it.
With that being said, I've got a couple of announcements to make.
Almost three years after writing When the Sun Comes, I have finally come up with a story idea to explain how humans came to Equestria, as told to a group of children who go above and beyond their teacher's request on a history report. I've agonized on how to best tell the story and I think I found something that will satisfy my growing inner demand for making a quality story.
I need to finish I, Chrysalis.
My Daughter Chrysalis will have one or two more chapters before that book is done. Then the third and final book of the series will begin. It will be titled My Daughter, the Queen.
Another Bane story is in the works and will be told from Luna's perspective. Working title is 'Bane of the Moon' and is subject to change.
Now, random question for you readers of mine: Should I open a PayPal account for folks who want to make a one time donation? I am seriously thinking of scrapping any ideas of donations as all I want to do is build a garage on my property. I've got a concrete slab, but a garage will cost me $8,000 - $9,500 to be built. I could get a loan, but it would stretch my finances a bit thinner than I would like. I've almost got my medical bills paid off (yay!), so there is a good chance I won't need to open up a PayPal account.
Ah well, enough about me!
Obligatory Chrysalis pic!
I have an obligatory Queen Chrysalis picture...

Her and Shrek look like they are ready to smash faces together.
Okay, last one, then I'll be good. Probably.

Time to write a shipfic. Queen Chrysalis and Shrek the Ogre.
With a raised eyebrow, Shrek lifted the changeling queen and placed his lips upon her rear. Sucking in a deep breath, he then blew it out with great force, causing kazoo-like noises issue forth from her every hole and orifice. The queen giggled, because it tickled, and Shrek did it again for a second time.

I agree with you Scar, but the real problem isn't the fact that, as you put it, it's hard to find a Muse, it's when the Muse leaves you.
Even though I am an amateur writer/author who tends to think more than write, here are some suggestions I have for anyone who's having trouble with their own Muse.
1) think about an idea and all of its parts: what's the plot? Where does it take place? Which type and kind of characters are involved? Who's the good and bad guy/gal? Why are they good/bad? Which direction are you going to make the story go?
2) one of the biggest problems any author can have is when they make the characters (OC's or not) unrelatable with the audience. Make the characters have relatable (if not comparable with human problems/struggles).
3) once you think you have a good idea, start developing on it. How is/are the main character(s) going to be introduced, what's their story, their objective, etc. But don't write it at first, let your brain juice flow u till you have a very good understanding of what is going to happen to the characters as long as the story progresses.
4) and the most important thing of it all: always ask for someone else's opinion on how certain things (regarding both the character and the story) can happen or take place. It's always a good idea to have someone's opinion on something, especially if the person in question doesn't know nothing about the universe you are basing your story about. The reason is simple: since they do not know nothing about this particular universe, they are able to see (or in this case hear) your idea and give you the insight of someone who's POV is not only very different from yours, but their filter of interpretation isn't as unconsciously biased as yours.
