I also draw. Maybe I draw too much and write too little.

Reports from the Depths of Writer's Block Tartarus · 6:46pm Mar 9th, 2017

Dear treasured readers,

Hello. I am your resident Chinese guy who pretends to know how to write English, despite in actuality being a legion of dyslexic monkeys (from China, did I mention that before? I'm Chinese). I also suffer from the terrible RL-itis, which causes the afflicted to read scientific literature and write up manuscripts instead of updating stories.

Whenever my debilitating illness does not flare up, however, I also find myself staring at my materials without new ideas that make enough sense, to myself at least. Even the rawest, quickest unpublished update to Evenfall got a bit stuck after 6- 7000 words, and given how 'stream-of-consciousness' that story is... (I enjoyed writing it, of course, it's very soothing to just type away). Any other time is spent on drawing ponies instead.

I really want to find a way out of this writer's block, though. I then think, hey, maybe trying to write something out of my comfort zone would work. Since I discovered that I tend to write Spike as some big damn hero, and the moral opposition to f- I mean, messing with minds also features in a number of my stories, I figure why don't I try write something opposite - a one-shot, starring him as some friggin' mind-controlling villain with a petty possessive desire?

I then researched the genre around here and elsewhere, then when I gathered enough knowledge of the tropes, I began to slap at my keyboard with apprehension.

And before I knew it, bam, suddenly a lamia-Spike story at 85% completion. It's even become somewhat more suggestive (duh, it's lamia) than my usual writing, so I'm just a bit hesitant if I should unleash that what-the-tartarus on here.

What do? What do?! I don't even know how the heck did I write that! B- But it's coherent enough, I guess?? A- And you people won't eat me alive for putting it up, huh??!! I'm not going to be eaten!! Not by a friggin' snake!! AHHHH-

---

Nurse! He's out of bed again!

---

Sorry for that. I really should not be that fidgety about putting up stories since I dived into this head-first in September, but I just wanna put something up to describe my thought process when writing that strange little snippet. Cheers!

With much appreciation as always,
Yinglong

I say to go for it. I moved out of my comfort zone one One-Shot-Ober and wrote a grimdark as fuck story and people mostly liked it.

(Or hated it outright, which is to be expected.)

Most people won't get offended by you writing something that's different for you, is what I'm saying.

Post it! Anything you write is worth the read!
