Pony Alcohol Tolerance · 2:15pm Apr 4th, 2017
What tolerance level would you consider the ponies? Weak, strong, very strong, other? (stat other in post)
Weak as in having three pints and their already really drunk.
Would you say alicorns have a very strong tolerance level?
Alicorns are like The Flash and Captain America.
They can't get drunk... ever.
Or they have the highest tolerance
11-101+
Whatever is funnier at the time
4483303 i agree however they can get drunk under the circumstance in which their magic is removed, or salt.
Well, in real life, it takes a fair bit of booze to get a horse drunk, so I would assume the same goes for ponies.

This.
4483334 I just want to know if you tried this.
Well, looking at their real-life counterparts, I highly doubt that they'd be able to get drunk.
BUT THIS IS MLP! WHO CARES ABOUT LOGIC?!
4483343 No, but I know people that have done it.
Magical ponies = whatever rules about alcohol consumption are convenient, amusing, beneficial or preferable to a writer at any given time
It's based on their body mass, their fat percentage, and their liver.
They have the stamina of a horse.
To put it simply, the smaller the body mass, the quicker a being becomes drunk. A large fully grown horse can put down quite a few full bottles of hard liquor before it starts to feel it, and so it can be assumed that a pony could still take alcohol fairly well. I would say that their body mass is around about the same as a fully grown, healthy human. So probably try to base the numbers around that.
4483625 Indeed. And i´d prefer low alcohol tolerance, as them being practically immune to alcohol, would make the whole point of writing a story about it pointless, as it would be basically the same as a story without alcohol.
4483460 I'd say take their findings and divide by eight for a pony.
In my opinion, it depends more on the race in question.
Pegasi have a higher alcohol tolerance for their metabolism is a whole lot higher thanks to the fact that they can fly. That would also increase their daily food intake by a lot.
Earth ponies would also have a higher metabolism but it would be way lower in comparison to a pegasi. Because earth ponies are physically very active, their metabolism would also be higher than the average. Their increase in metabolism will always be equal to the total amount of excersice they do a day plus their total muscle mass.
Unicorns on the other hand (or hoof in this case) have the highest metabolism of all three. Fortunately, their metabolism is mainly focused on both lipids and sugar (glucose) as well as some selected minerals. The reason they have the highest metabolism of the three is because they can use magic. Since their magic requires constant focus and a high mental effort to maintain and sustain, the total amount of resources they require to keep their magic active will always be dependent on how much "food" there is available for their brain to consume. Sadly for the unicorns, their metabolism is mainly focused on grease (lipids) and carbohydrates (sugar) and since their metabolism isn't used to handing alcohol it would be theoretically possible for their brain to be the most susceptible of the three.
Alicorns on the other hand, have the benefits of all three races without any of their drawbacks. But as I've explained before, it all depends on how physically active they really are. Taking into consideration that Celestia has done nothing mayor during the entire series so far, her metabolism should be the lowest. Whilst Twilights, again, should should be the highest out of all the princesses becaus she uses both hear magic and wings the most (as far as the canonicity is involved that is)
4483303 Or what if the alcohol affects magical ponies differently? Like, they are immune to the physical effects (hangover, loss of balance, and reaction speed etc), but the psychological effects still affect them (impairs their judgement)?
Could make for an interesting story

Indeed...
