Sequel and other news! · 2:58am May 17th, 2017
So far, I am getting back into writing again quite well. One Way Ticket is coming along, though I am lacking a storyboard. Very odd to go off the cuff on a story, but it is kind of fun.
But, onto the main point. The first chapter of Hopes and Follies sequel: Betwixt and Benighted, is done. It is going through final editing now.
The only real delay to it's release is the cover art, which I just got the confirmation of the commission today. So, it may be another week or two, but the wait is no longer due to me not actually writing it.
Sorry it took me this long to get back to it. I'll make sure that there is at least a chapter each month on it till it finishes. Hoping I update it more than that, but that'll be the minimum I'll strive for. Taking a college class coming next week, so life is gonna be busy.
I forgot how much fun Discord is to write.
I'll probably do 2-3 chapters of it before looking at making the next Mauxie story. And as for the sequel to Gryphon Empire...heck..I still need to make a new epilogue for that one, let alone look at the sequel. So that's gonna be a bit.
Hopes and Follies needs a few minor details altered, but editing is kind of a motivation killer, so I'll work on that after the sequel's first chapter is out, to raving success I hope.
Sadly, the writer I had found to write out a Trixie x Adagio story has lost a lot of interest in the fandom, and didn't reply to my inquiries on anything, so that is on hold until I find someone. I could add it to my own list of things to write, but I kind of wanted to enjoy reading it as opposed to creating it. Sucker for a Cute Face just makes me want to see a long Trixie X Adagio fic, even if I need to pay to have it done.
Enough rambling, off to bed.
At last we find out if Trixie's eye gets better!
Ahh, guilt.
If it helps, I am pretty sure I'll be writing my own fic that ultimately ends in TrixiexAdagio (spoiler alert!) with plenty of teases in between, but not until Yandere Simulator is finished and I've had some time to play through it. Or, at least until I understand enough about the final rival (and maybe the Senpai character, whom I suspect is hiding something) to be able to know exactly what kind of ending I'm working towards. The game is due to be finished in a couple years, though, so I understand (and support! Albeit without contributing to any commission because I'm so cheap!) hoping for something else in the mean time.
...It really is amazing that for all the talk I remember hearing back when Rainbow Rocks came out, there's so little between those two. People talked about Sunset and Twilight in the same way and that's one of the most popular ships, I think.
Wooooo. Been waiting for this for a while. Glad to so you back.
Hopes and follies is why I started following you, crazy to think it's been nearly 3 years
This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill. Lock the doors and close the blinds, we're going for a ride.
This means I have to re-read HaF because I remember the bare minimum. Will you do a blog when the edits to it are done?

Oh, well that's cool, I can't wai-
Well then.
Pretty much, there is two stories of them I know of. One was unfinished and was a alternate to what happened in Rainbow Rocks, the other was during Rainbow rocks and involved Trixie becoming a siren. There has actually been more stories of Trixie x Sunset. Shimmer of Magic being probably the best of them that I know of.
And don't feel guilty, I just really like your story and it makes me wish to see more hilarity with Adagio, just with Trixie along for the embarrassing, teasing, ride.

Yeah, I should have done the editing before starting the next story, but editing is a bit more draining, so I'd like to get some progress on new stories before going back to re-edit. The significant changes will be the story taking place shortly after Tirek as opposed to before. So some lines and references to the library will be changed to Twilight's castle. Discord talking to Fluttershy near the end will alter a little. And I'll clean up some of the wording that irritates me now that I know better.

Sorry.
I know I could just make up details to suit whatever I wanted it to be, but an AU-crossover thing like this calls for a good understanding of the source material, references to the game itself, clear resemblances to the plot, in-jokes regarding game mechanics that, if handled well, won't make unfamiliar readers feel like they've missed anything while providing a laugh to those that played it too. I could fill in the blanks with anything that worked, but I know I wouldn't be satisfied with the result once Yandere Sim finally came out and what I came up with had virtually nothing to do with it.
I'm already omitting the murder part entirely because I've never been a fan of grimdark.
I happen to have that one in my favorites list!

That Siren transformation one is also in my favorites. Out of curiosity, what's the other? I am also disappointed in the amount of Trixie/Adagio available.

Temptation Awaits. It's interesting, but only two chapters, so you don't really get much of where it is going to go. The writer is still active, so hoping he does more of it one day.

I hear ya, though from what I understand didn't he partner with a company that should help him create the game sooner, while also being able to have a life of his own?
I've not played Yandere simulator, but I watched a few "Fluttershy Plays' of it, and I am subscribed to him on youtube to keep up on updates.
Glad to hear that, Gryphon Empire is the closest to Grim Dark I imagine going. Though one scene in the Hopes and Follies sequel will probably come close or go a liiiiittle over that.
I need to find a new favorite story, I have been re-reading Sucker again this week. So many things that hint at future scenes that I am sure you either forgot, or don't intend to use. Pirate Outfits, exercising at the Dazzlings, Adagio experimenting with the different ways looking at Fluttershy can cause her to react and trying to figure out why, I could go on.

Thanks.
I feel like people overuse the term 'grimdark' One dark scene does not qualify, that's normal dark. Well, maybe if it's ridiculously over the top horrible, I suppose.
If you need to find a good story to read, I could probably make a few suggestions, knowing you like romantic comedies. Unfortunately, some of the best stories I've seen are long languishing unfinished fics but there's still plenty of complete ones.

There's certainly hope, but with the consistent pattern of things being ready later than he first announces them to be, I'm not counting on it.
I can generally stomach dark moments just fine, but not when that's the primary focus (as doing shady things to murder one's romantic rivals would be) in something I primarily turn to for light-hearted entertainment. Which is ironic, because it was Pinkie and Fluttershy's now-legendary season 1 freak-outs (specifically these ones! ) that got me to finally give FiM a look.
That sentiment being true while I'm simultaneously interested in Yandere kidnap-torture-mindslave-bully-into-suicide Simulator might call for explaining. In most games I play, there tends to be little to make me care about any given character much, even the protagonist. There usually isn't a whole lot of characterization, not a lot of little humanizing moments, not a lot to paint the player as much more than a robot through which to enact violence. In those cases, all the murder-frenzy in the world is just so much white noise, and the countless mounds of bodies might as well be fallen blades of grass after a thorough lawn-mowing.
That, and I'd like nothing more than to use the Matchmaking method for every single rival (I already ship Megami Saikou with the mad scientist kid!) for what is most likely the Golden Ending, at least the first time through.
Sorry for the long wait, but progress is being made.
I could probably wrap up the most recent scene and publish something tomorrow, but it'd leave off on the most biting cliffhanger of the story so far, so I figured it might be better to do the next few scenes after it, get to a calmer stopping point, and either publish a longer chapter or chop them into two and publish both on the same day. That is the current plan.
