The Royal Canterlot Library Features "Three Nights"—with a Musical Digression · 11:48pm Jun 2nd, 2017

So. My streak has finally come to an end.

I joined Fimfiction in January of 2013, and got my first story on Equestria Daily less than two weeks later. Since then, I've gotten something like another six stories featured there. Seattle's Angels did two or three as well, as did the Royal Guard, and... heck, I don't even remember who else.

But I never managed to get a story into the Pony Fiction Vault, because it closed up shop shortly after I got into the fandom. And I managed to ensure I'd have a really long wait to get into the Royal Canterlot Library, too, when I accepted an invitation to join them as a curator way back in the mists of time.

Well, I finally retired from RCL earlier this year, which means they were finally free to look at my stuff—and they've decided to feature "Three Nights". You can find the interview over here, and of course it'll be on Fimfiction a week from now.

I guess I can't brag about being one of the best well-established writers in the fandom to have never gotten featured by PFV or RCL anymore... :twilightoops:

Anyway, that's a cool thing, but it's actually not my primary purpose for writing this blog. If you read the RCL interview all the way to the last question, you'll come across something I've been meaning to blog about for a while.

About half a year back, I received a comment on "Three Nights". This wasn't your standard comment, it was one of those comments writers treasure forever. Y'see, one of the things I did in writing "Three Nights" was to put together a full Hearth's Warming carol. I placed the full lyrics in the appendix, and I attempted to sing the thing myself so you could hear what it was supposed to sound like (or at least a rough approximation thereto).

Enter Lunae Lumen, one of those rare pony fans who actually makes fan-works based on fan-fiction. He left me a note on the story, with a link to his rendition of the song. I've linked to his raw version in the RCL interview. Here, I'm linking to a YouTube video I cobbled together featuring the song and some of Nadnerb's artwork from the story.

Please enjoy. :twilightsmile:

You might not be able to do that anymore, but I still can. So...neener-neener?

This is amazing! Just a short time ago, when thinking on the fic, I was wondering why you don't hit up any fandom VAs to give this song a proper rendition and now, this happens! :pinkiehappy:

This is an excellent, excellent point. Shame I'm not in a place to rectify it anymore.

<stares pointedly at his former colleagues>

Awesome!!! :heart::pinkiehappy::heart: (And congrats, too! It's well-deserved!)

Congratulations! :pinkiehappy:

Oh, and I just got a thing too! But I'm sure your story will wipe the memory of mine off the map, hee hee. :twilightsheepish:

Woot! Very nice. There are days I wish I could sing like that, but just the ones with days and nights.

And a fine streak it was...
Congratulations on the well-deserved feature and all related accolades :twilightsmile:
