Leaked Episode Thoughts *Spoilers!* · 10:23pm Jun 21st, 2017
Watched S07E12 and E13, from my understanding they're both leaks. They were both pretty good I thought. Spoilery thoughts below, so be warned!
E12:
Really nice seeing a story with Discord that isn't "Discord acts like a huge asshole for the first half." He has the same problem a lot of characters do where he's shoehorned into the same story for most of his episodes, so this was a nice change of pace. Reminded me of Dash's episode about Tank hibernating because it was something of a unique story for the character outside of their usual trope.
Not really much of a Discord shipper in general, but I can see this one giving a lot of fodder for him and Fluttershy. Shy was predictably cute in this episode too, just like she usually is. I really liked her getting into Discord's special brand of chaos.
The singing Ginsing reminded me of the little glowy guys from Rayman.
E13:
I'm not sure if it's just because I'm particularly emotional this month, but this episode fucked me UP. Stupid ponies making me stupid cry.
Burnt Oak: Sam Elliott in pony form?
We still don't know what happened to the Apples, but this one kind of confirms that they're gone. Applejack even says something like "they left us something to remember them by." Parents are a tricky thing in MLP since none of their parents are really visible and constant presences, though. I think we've only ever gotten confirmation that Shy's, Dash's, Pinkie's, and Rarity's are alive and well. (And I could do without Shy's because Flutter Brutter was fucking atrocious.) Seems like Twi's parents would've been there for Shining Armor's wedding, but...eh. Maybe I'm overthinking it.
Surprisingly understated performance by William Shatner. I didn't even know it was him until I saw it pop in the credits. Reminded me that he was actually a respectable, talented actor in his day. (But Sisko is still best captain.)

I just couldn't stand her brother. :( I think he reminded me too much of people I know/have worked with. By the end of it my mindset was "GOOD. LET HIM DIE IN THE WOODS."
Gotta admit I cried like a bitch for ep 13. The song, the ending, knowing what happens to them... Incredible episode. And yeah, we've gotten as many confirmation for dead parents as we could get for a MLP show, going from a bunch of hints and the writers outright confirming it. If there was doubt before, this one clinches it.
Also, Twilight's parents were there for Shining's wedding, they were in the first row, so we have met all main character's parents at this point. This season feels like the writers are tying up loose ends, pretty nice tbh.

T'was good shiet, dat Apple Pear episode. Too bad I've got no heart in my chest vacuole.
I appreciate the time and commitment and insane level of detail that the episode gave to the show's continuity. From giving us background to Mrs. Cake to the mane color of young!Mayor Mare to the Mare in the Moon. It was writers taking everything super friggin' seriously and it was great.
Nice song too.
And nice to have some closure to the Apple Family saga.

Nah, don't worry, Hasbro has no reason to discontinue MLP. It's still their biggest cash-cow by far, they have confirmed season 8 will happen, and we've seen that the writers aren't scared of introducing big changes to progress the show. Whether the fandom appreciates those changes or not (Twilycorn, CMC getting CM, Starlight becoming main char, changeling reformation...) is another beast entirely, but at least we know they won't let the show get stale.
Ps: also we getting a new pony movie. If that movie bombs, you can start to worry, otherwise, hang on to your butt for about 5 more of those.
They were there on the wedding. And Twilight's coronation. And actually spoke in this season's opener.
