Synopsis of a Less Than Satisfactory Plotline · 4:18am Jul 14th, 2017
Hello everyone. Dilos1 here with a few things to say in regards to my latest story, titled Eventide, as I have been having quite a few thoughts regarding it and the amount of feedback it has received.
Now, before I say anything else, I first want to say just how much it means to me that you all liked it so much from the start. Seriously, since the day I first published Eventide I have been getting notifications and favorites on it almost daily, and I could not feel any more proud to see my work flourish the way that it has, that you all enjoy it so much. Really, all I'm trying to do here is write a little bit of pony every now and then, yet your feedback and constructive criticism have instilled in me a sense of pride in myself that I have seldom felt before, and I cannot possibly begin to thank you all enough for that. I know I get a lot of praise here, but in reality, you guys are the real champs here, and this site would suffer in your absence.
Moving on from all of that however is the main topic of this blog post. Recently, as I was writing out the synopsis of Eventide, I began to really consider where I was going with the story, and I got to thinking that I was not giving it the absolute best that I could, even though I like to believe that was the case when I first started writing it. You see, as I went further and further into the story, planning out the events and all that, I suddenly realized that the direction I was going would leave me writing myself into a corner from which it would be extremely difficult to escape from, and the plotline became much more convoluted than what I think it warranted. Basically, it was bad, and on a much lower standard than what I would like to hold for myself, and as a result it left me wondering what I should do to salvage it. And as I sat at my desk making a face that made it seem I was the most intense constipation in my life, an idea hit me.
Rewrite it.
Now, when I say rewrite I don't mean give it a complete overhaul. What I mean is that the story is still in its early chapters, meaning not much would be lost from tweaking the chapters a bit. The first chapter would remain largely the same with only a bit of polishing, and the same would be said for the beginning of the second chapter. However, about a quarter of the way into the second chapter things would take a much different turn than what already happened, and I think it would be much more realistic and constructive towards the story as a whole. It would even help me plan certain other events that I have been having trouble with in trying to figure out. I would like to tell you all what exactly those changes would be, but I don't want to spoil it for you.
However, that left the question of if I really should go through with it, as doing so would more than likely hinder how soon the next official update would come, which I feel is rather unfair to you guys, having already read those chapters. So in the end, I decided to leave it up yo you all. Should I go through with a minor rewrite, in which I consult with a few confidants about how to proceed, or should I should keep going as I am in the hopes that I figure something out along the way?
Thank you all for bearing with me, and I eagerly await your responses.
Sincerely, Dilos1
Personally If I painted myself into a corner, I don't think it hurts to ask for help. but if you want to rewrite I'm willing to give rereading a shot.
The updates make sense to me, I know all too well what it's like to write yourself into a corner.
Do whatever you think is right, my friend. Quality like that takes time.
If you feel the need to rewrite it, then, go for it. It will help down the road, and the story is just started, so its the best time for it.
In the end it's all up to you, if you feel like it's the best choice for you, not for your story or the people reading it, but you, then do it.
I wish you luck in your wring endeavours because from what I've seen you are a pretty good writer.
Rewrite it now. If you write yourself into a corner, it can be hard to write out of it. Save future you the headache and rewrite it now.
Rewrite it.
If you aren't happy with your work, you should erase your mistakes now instead of being forced to work around them and make yourself more unhappy.
If you feel it will be bether for it, re write it. I think we can all wait a bit longer if it means a quality story.
if you feel the need to rewrite some chapters then go for it.
I'm willing to wait for the next one, if it means it's going to be better later on.
I am okay with a rewrite but I would like to know, if you don't read the previous chapters will future chapter not make sense on a big or small scale? I have read other author saying they rewrite previous chapters and I went back to read them again but I didn't feel like I needed to because I felt they were too small changes to bother with.

If I go through with a rewrite, the first chapter will remain largely the same, while halfway the second events would occur drastically differently, so it might be good to reread it so as not be left in the dark about certain things.

Alright thanks for answering.
Also a "T" to much.
I agree with everyone else, rewrite it now if you you think it will cause a problem in the future while it's still somewhat sort. Good luck :)
