Believe it or not, I actually got some chores done today.

And that's saying something, because if Diablo IV was this good at any point last year, it would have definitely been near the top of my Best Games of 2023. You know, instead of being omitted entirely.

So let's just say that Armored Core VI absolutely just got smacked out of the running for Best Yesteryear Game.

Ten Years Ago · 7:53pm Sep 24th, 2017

Ten years ago, this was the longest day for legions of gamers around the world.

Ten years ago tonight, a friend and I were at the second rowdiest, second most fun midnight launch (Revenge of the Sith still takes the cake).

Ten years ago at midnight, the juggernaut Halo 3 launched. Back then, absolutely nothing beat it in terms of Xbox Live activity, and only Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare came close.

And still, to this day, I think it's the best making-of game documentary of all time.

I remember the first time I played with my cousin when I moved to Texas. Great times. Played as the Arbiter and managed to keep the alien weapons all the way through the missions! Then I got my own Xbox and played online with him... good times...

Ten years ago a pale shadow of a brilliant idea was released. And proved once more that Lowest Common Denominator makes more money than Actual Innovation. Let us weep that this remains true even now and likely will remain so indefinitely.
