Preview of my new project

Before we begin my story you should know something about me. My name is Pearlwort and I am a thestral mare who is disliked by other threstals which means I am generally disliked by everypony. I don't have a lot of the same abilities as other threstals; I can see in the dark but only as well as a non threstal can see well in the dark and I can't do anything with dreams or shadows either---when it came to cool threstel powers I kind of got the short end of the stick. Only bit of threstal magic I can manipulate small bits of fog or smoke to move as I like or make it into specific images though I am not exactly a showmare and it doesn't have any practical uses I have found. Still a fun distraction at times.

So what can I do? Well, my cutting mark is a Pearlwort bloom. What is Pearlwort you might ask? Pearlwort as far as most ponies or other creatures are concerned is a weed. The most remarkable thing about pearlwort is that it can survive in the most miserable of climates from harsh deserts to arctic wastes and that is a reflection of my ability as well.....I just survive.

I don't get things like hypothermia or heat stroke even if I get really uncomfortable in extreme hot or cold. I don't get sick. Any just about any injury that doesn't kill me outright I will recover from eventually. My talent is surviving.

So what do you do with a talent for surviving? Well, first guess is you join the guard or the army. Two things don't work well for me with that; one other threstals really don't like me and the other being a threstal just about every other type of pony or other creature doesn't feel comfortable around me. The Twilight Realm might be this big diverse place of many types of ponies and other creatures but threstals still have this prejudice against them.

You might wonder why my fellow threstals don't want me around. Let's just say that they have their own prejudices and they aren't uncommon ones. You may have them too and I would rather not tell you just yet as I don't want you disgusted by me either. At least not until I have related my story.

So what does a mare like me do? I go where all the other misfits go. Out to the edge of the Realm to the village of Starlight's Folly and make my life as a scavenger trying to trade things we scavenge from the Lost Lands beyond for bits. It is dangerous work in a very inhospitable place but for a pony with a pearlwort cuttie mark it is about as good a job as I can get where my special talent for just surviving is about the biggest boon any scavenger could ever ask to have.
