Welp, That's It, I'm Going · 5:31am Oct 5th, 2017
I wish I could say to one of the cons (which I am also seriously considering), but no. I'm going to the movie. In the theater. Like a normal person.
So far I've watched all of the EqG movies online by some kind of bootleg or Netflix because I didn't want to go out to the theaters and look weird, but you know what? Screw it. I'm going. I've paid for my ticket on Fandango at the 6:50pm time at one of my local theaters and picked out a solo seat around the mid-side area. I could have gotten a better seat, but practically all of the closer ones were either WAY too close to the screen, or they were in better areas in pairs. I figured I shouldn't be a complete douchebag, so I left those seats for parent-child duos. If that makes me look like the weirdo going to the MLP movie alone, so fuckin' be it.
If you're wondering why I decided to go at the time that most likely is going to have more kids than older bronies attending, well, it's not because the later time was sold out or that it was the only time that fit my schedule. I did it on purpose. I want to be seen. For all I know, I might be the only 'older' person that isn't a parent that goes at that time, but I seriously doubt it. There will likely be other bronies there, and I want parents to know that there are some of us that are going purely for the enjoyment of the movie and to possibly meet a few people. We're not all creeps, and they should know that. We're just some older folks who like a kids' cartoon, just like others were when other (supposedly) kid-geared cartoons were enjoyable for adults. Time to show them the personas portrayed in "Let's Go and Meet the Bronies" from 1:00 on are the people they should get to know (though maybe we should leave out that 2:26-2:32 part), and not the caricatures that were shown in "Fame and Misfortune." Of course those people exist and they shouldn't be completely ignored, but assuming the 'negative' minority was the majority of us is what caused the whole terrible stigma of bronies being whack-jobs in the first place.
Okay, I know I'm beating a dead horse here (sorry not sorry for the phrase usage), but with this movie in particular being released, I feel like it's our time to show what the cool side of the Brony fandom is really like. I've even picked out the shirt I'm gonna wear:
(I had to go find it in a box somewhere)
I like this one in particular because not only is Luna best princess, but it's something I really take to heart. I've had a really shitty past with a ton of bad medical situations, but instead of griping about it, I believe going through them has made me a better person, so if anyone decides to muster up the courage to ask me why I'm wearing that shirt, dammit I'm gonna tell 'em.
To anyone else seeing the movie on Friday (technically tomorrow now), enjoy. I won't be posting spoilers, but if anyone wants to know what I thought, you can give me a buzz in my server and I'll be happy to chat about it.
Until next time, everyone!
