Kinda similar to not understanding the meaning of why being featured is so important (maybe I'm just missing key points of fim culture?).
Why is being the first to comment on something such a big deal? I mean, granted, most of the fics I've seen that on, I've gone, "Why is that so import- oh god, never mind, it was 2014." But at the same time, it still confuses me? If not why is it so important, then why was it so important to be the first to comment on something? Did the author give you a prize for being the first commenter? Were there story perks to being the first?
I just... really don't understand this particular piece of internet culture...
Well, as for featured, its kind of a nice achievement for a story, and sometimes being featured will convince people to read a story they might otherwise ignore. If nothing else, an author might note it as a matter of personal pride. There are thousands of stories on here, getting one featured is something to be proud of.
As for the first comment, that is still all over the internet and I still have no idea why. Like, people race to post first on new chapters/comic pages/videos without even viewing them first, all for the dubious reward of being told who cares? So I'm with you on that one haha.

I know. It makes no sense to me. I was really trying not to sound rude, but it sounds like a childish concept. It makes no difference if you're first and if you post that you're first on any of my YouTube videos, fanfictions, or original fictions, I'm probably going to delete it because, while writers and creators love getting comments, the important part ABOUT getting those comments is getting feedback. Saying, "Yay, I commented first!" like a five year old is not feedback. It's not praise, criticism, or any kind of insult. It's just... childish...
Yeah. Now, making a note every time a story gets featured is a little silly, but I don't think people realize that a story that has been featured once will always show up in the featured box every time a new chapter is posted.
I have no idea how it started, but yeah, it's kind of a dumb trend. I think it's mostly dead at this point, but you still see it sometimes. Best just to ignore it, not even worth deleting in my honest opinion.
Anyway, haven't seen you around here much lately, good to see you back!

Haha, yeah it's been really busy here too, and I haven't gotten much writing done myself. Had a couple hospital visits to sort out, but now I am minus one gallbladder, so that's fun. I was writing a decently long clop oneshot, but I ended up tossing it out because I wasn't happy with it.

I don't remember exactly where I found it, but I googled something like "how does the featured box on fimfiction" work. I think I actually found it on a tv tropes page... But since then I've just been observing it and yeah, that's pretty much how it works haha.
Yeah, it wasn't too bad, as far as hospital visits are concerned, but it definitely cramped my writing a bit haha.
Well, there are a few times you have to just let an idea go, or put it on the backburner until you're ready for it. I may revisit the story later, but for now I need to get back in the groove with Neighbors!

Yeah. As someone who's working on several at once, I have to constantly juggle which of the sixty I want to work on and which I can save for a later time. Still, hope you get your groove back! (Hope I get mine back too, eventually)

Yup! Actually, the flashback at the beginning of the most recent chapter of One in the Same Thing? It was going to be a completely different story altogether about the Sirens' origins. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to continue it, though, so I just used what I had to make something else better.

That's always a problem with longer siren stories, you almost have to come up with some backstory. Sometimes it can be fun, but other times the desire to just phone it in is too strong haha. It's almost a shame there isn't something official to fall back on, but considering how they tend to handle tragic backstories it's probably for the best.
Hey, have you seen Shadow Play yet? Sirens get a cool cameo there. No new information really, but still fun.

Yeah. They apparently have one in the comics, but as I don't read the comics and I don't care about canon anyway, I kinda just write my own for them depending on what the story calls for.
I saw the Sirens in Shadow Play... Got pissy because it didn't sound like they got Kazumi and the girls to do cameo vocals for them. If you're going to put in the most acclaimed villains in the entire franchise, at least keep them consistent... Aside from that, I'm saving Shadow Play for when I watch the entire series this coming summer.

The one in the comics isn't even consistent with the one in the movie. So... yeah good call there. There's a reason not very many people acknowledge the comics. At all. Ever.
Well, they don't have speaking roles at all, so they aren't snubbing the VAs. I won't spoil any more, but I personally liked how they were handled, for what little screen time they had.

Like I said, me and canon don't get along. Poor comics, can't help yourselves, can you? Ah well. Either way, since I need them to have different backstories as the plot demands, I have no other reason to read the comics anyway. So yay! More fun for me!

Ikr? But it's no big. I need to save up enough to buy a camera, a new laptop, and some extra equipment. I'm reacting to a few choice episodes, too. Ones I, admittedly, haven't seen, like Gauntlet of Fire or something, the season 6 finale, the season three finale, all of Legend of Everfree... It's actually easier for me to say which episodes I have seen now that I think about it...
Well, to be fair I don't think anyone does consider the comics canon haha. If you were to read any, I'd suggest Sombra Rex and the Anon-a-miss ones, but even those are a bit divisive haha. Most people do just prefer to make up their own shit, at least for anything not in the show/ movies. Speaking of I still havent seen the MLP movie.
So why the wait? Making sure you don't ruin your studies by binging 7 seasons of television? I can feel that haha.

I've read the Anon-a-Miss comic several times. I wanna make sure I know all that happens in it so that I know what's infringing on the new versions I'm creating and what's going to help me detail-wise. Don't worry, I haven't seen it either. I have heard two or three songs from it, though.
Mostly because I want to record my reactions to all of the episodes and use the ones that are the best in a kind of compilation. Also, I doubt I'd be able to split myself in two watching FiM and working on Senior Year things.

Yeah, I've heard a couple songs, and seen a couple animation clips that are absolutely adorable, but I haven't taken the time to find a version online. I don't think I'm willing to walk into a theater for it XD
