I know no one will likely ever read this, but for some reason I feel the need to vent on the internet.
Been working on/off on a one-shot fic that I started writing on a whim recently. I've been writing it on my ipod using the Notes app, then typing what I've written onto my laptop.
On saturday, I had three hours of free time at work (it was a slow day) and so ended up writing quite a large chunk (for my standards) of the story. I was really pleased with it too, which is rare for me.
Which must be the reason why that today, when I go to type what I had written onto my laptop, what I had written simply wasn't there. It's gone. I don't know whether it just plain randomly disappeared, or whether it somehow got deleted in my pocket or something (though considering it's a touchpad I seriously doubt that) but it's just plain gone. Three hours worth of writing that I was actually quite proud of and looking forward to finding a way to place in the story, gone.
I've tried looking up ways to possibly recover it but have had no luck. So now I have to rewrite it, but when I try to remember what I wrote I can only come up with what I reckon is a quarter of the original length. I also know that whatever I write now will not be as good as what I wrote, causing me to lose motivation to write it at all.
Needless to say, I am annoyed.
A few things...
1) Dude. That sucks. I would go into the whole, "Back it up", but it sounded like one of those "on the whim inspiration" sort of things, so I can't blame ya.
2) As annoying as it is at the time, its not a huge issue. Sounds like a lot, but now that you at least wrote it once, you know WHAT you wanna say (kinda), so it won't take that long.
3) At least one person read this.

i wanted to say thank you for the comment on my story and tell you not to give up. i almost did myself as you could see but i'll plow through. the only real suggestion i can make in this case is to plow through it or take a short break.
