UnDeserved: FiM/EqG's terrible moral · 7:28pm Mar 24th, 2018
I watched entirely too much pony this morning. It got me thinking.
EqG 1: Sunset Shimmer not granted higher power by Celestia, takes Element of Magic, becomes demon.
2(RR): Sirens not granted magic by default, must take it, are demonized for their acts. (weakest version)
3(FG): Pedestrian Sparkle not granted magic, accidentally takes it, choosing to take it for herself turns her into a demon.
4 (LoE): Gloriosa Daisy not granted power, takes the "geodes" and their magic, becomes demon. (Twilight, meanwhile, must embrace her magic that is granted to her by fate, while she is believing, quite according to observed patterns, that seeking magic turns you into a demon.)
5 (FF): Wallflower Blush takes a power not granted to her (memory stone), abuses it, …hmm, okay, this doesn't quite fit as well.
S7 finale: Stygian wants power, tries to take it, is turned on by his friends, finds power, tries to take it, is turned into a demon.
on further thought, this applies to most major villains in FiM.
…S1 opener: Luna tried to take power, turned into a demon.
S2 opener: Discord doesn't fit the principle. Perfect for Discord.
S3 opener: Sombra took power [dark magic] he was not granted, turned into a demon.
[S2 finale: Chrysalis is a demon who steals power, inverting it.]
[S4 finale: Tirek is also a demon who steals power.]
[S6 finale: Chrysalis is a demon who steals power, inverting it.
Then Thorax gives power away, re-inverting, and becoming a demon Bad Knockoff Changeling.
S5 opener/finale: okay, Starlight Glimmer also doesn't wholly fit, but she's taking power [talents] she doesn't have title to.
S6 opener: Flurry Heart is born to undeserved power. She is a demon. (rimshot)
