In regards to dialect · 11:43pm Mar 30th, 2018
Actual legitimate criticism and well reasoned and rational analysis and actually being constructive ones critique!? How did this get into my in box? I thought I'd set that damn thing to obnoxious ponce!
So anyway, someone sent me an email. They didn’t deem a pm worthy, but an email, detailing how I was awful for ruining Chengars, how I should die, then they had an actual question and critique. Namely, how much swearing is done, and how they don’t speak like they do in Lunar Rebellion
Simply put, yes, I do have a lot of swears in my works. And no, I don't use what I deem High Gothic like Chengar does, and no its no cause I hate him and I'm a lazy cunt, its because.... well, bear with me.
First, lets establish what their dialect it. Equish, a derivative twin of our English from their latin twin language of tera, which is their root dialect and was also nicked from them by the unicorns who then copy pasted the whole thing, slapped a whole mess of oddly placed vowels, word pronunciations, and other reasons our granny gets snippy over when we speak, and relabeled the whole in a new book with pretty picture and an oprah book club sticker titled Unicornia: Our humble non grunting and pointing means of mouth noise that brings civilizations and justifies us putting on a big stupid hat and declaring our divine right to impose ddour rule on you and why you should greet your happy tax collector and his big buddy stallions who come by with special grown up time hugs and your money.
Referred in use in Equish as High Gothic, this method of speech seems most prevalently used diplomatically, as done in the original Lunar Rebellion. Its mostly used in political circles and between upper society subordinates and officials
Low Gothic, as read between Gale and her mother while in public, is a more relaxed version of its greater, and is largely done between nobles and military in “relaxed” settings or again in public.
Common is how a official, such as Sunbeam, speaks to a subordinate or serf. This set in the Gothic is also used largely in the teaching, craft apprenticing, and trade circles.
Uncouth, as I’ve portrayed, is pretty much how military, civilian, and even nobles speak when they are amongst close family or friends in private. It should be of note though that Pegasi culture has a general low opinion of such a thing. In their mind, its a relaxing of control and lack of discipline, and is also regarded as something a rogue or shady character uses.
As for swearing… Yeah, Celestia tried to curb that. Apparently the clan holds communal swear jar roughly reached the gdp of Bolivia by day three before Celestia gave up on the matter.
Uhm. Ok.
I just don't swear that often. Neither does most of my family.
But then, we are High Evolutionaries, a billion years beyond you mortals.

Yes, I am aware this is not the proper use of Gothic.
I apologize for nothing
Celestia then tried to impart upon Shadow the catharthis of using things she enjoyed instead of cursing, such as calling Sunbeam Sparkle a adorable fluffy kitten as opposed to, say, an atrocious cunt. Shadow agreed, and proceeded to use sex as the base:
"Fuck that."
