    ...

I should have written this a long time ago. It's been embarrassing. I've been embarrassed. I've also felt like, hey, I'm washed-up and haven't written anything in ages, so why should folks care?

But I might as well be honest, because if not now, when?

    I lost my job.

I woke up and remembered our song

Well, it was never really our song
It was a song I heard once, from you, and we talked about it
And I'm not sure if you even remember that conversation now, or if you listen to the song
It's not like the music you play now at all

And maybe you moved on from that, too
    Wouldn't be the first time

    But I shouldn't begrudge you
    I keep telling myself that
    You're happier now, more successful

    More (unfinished) content

It's been a while. I could talk about things being busy, but things are always busy. I'm not going anywhere, barring very unfortunate circumstances, and I appreciate everyone who's still been following along with this account.

because there isn't such a thing as too much breakfast.

Given that I wrote it about a year ago, I won't be surprised if people don't remember this story I wrote. I was happy with it at the time, but i clearly had stuff to learn about writing - as best demonstrated by sending it in to EqD and having it be rejected.

Fortunately, there is a seriously awesome person in this world who sat me down and said "look, here are all the problems with the story. Some technical, some intrinsic to the way it works. Your story could possibly make it to EqD if you fixed all this stuff."

I dragged my feet on it for longer than was necessary; part laziness, part fear of annoying him by making stupid mistakes, part fear of demonstrating inadequacy by having my efforts rejected yet again. As you've probably gathered at this point, one of the reasons I identify with Fluttershy a little is because of a serious case of nerves - and you've probably seen it crop up more than a little in my comments, blog posts and the general nature of my stories.

But it's finally done. The story's finally been revamped so that it should meet EqD standards, which means there's been some changes. The language in the first half's a bit more diverse and less repetitive, and the second half has gotten a more significant overhaul, particularly in regards to Princess Luna. The in-story logic's been tightened up, too, so it should be easier to figure out what the story is actually trying to say.

Anyways, if you liked the story and wanted to see what's changed, or were curious about it but haven't read it yet, feel free to check it out - there should be a link to it in this post.

Also, in less related news, a new chapter of Steel. is finally here! In case you wanted more Embaa-related goodness.

Let's be honest: there's no such thing as "too much Ember."

That's all I've got for now. Happy tuesday, y'all!
