Everyone, the next round of cake is on me… · 9:56pm Aug 4th, 2018
Metaphorically speaking, of course. Sorry guys. There’s a lot more of you than what my bank account can afford.
However, this is a call for celebration. My story “A Slice of (Cake) Life” has been featured by the Royal Canterlot Library! (OMG, ALL MY SQUEEES!!).
If you can’t tell, I’m just a bit excited.
I’m really honored and it came as a complete surprise. I knew some people liked my story, but I didn’t realized people like-liked it. So, thank you all. This has been a really fun journey and I’m immensely touched by the way I’ve been welcomed into this community. I think we all know FIMfic is something really special and amazing. I almost don’t feel worthy to be here.
A really nice twist is today is also BlazzingInferno and mine anniversary!
Eleven years ago from today, we got married. Eleven years ago from today we didn’t have kids, a dog, careers, and a mortgage. Eleven years ago from today, I married my best friend and the love of my life. The best part is, he’s still my best friend and love of my life.
It feel special that my story’s FIMfic feature fell on our anniversary weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Cake is my favorite couple on MLP:FIM (granted, there isn’t a lot to chose from). They make their relationship work, support one another, and parent together. I tried to reflect that in my story (even though the bulk of it was dealing with kids) because at the end of the day, some of the best times in sitting on the couch with your partner to watch silly tv-shows, talk about life, play computer games, or just quietly writing together. The Cakes failed to get out of the house for date night, but that didn’t mean the night was lost. Nights at home, reconnecting, are just as important and special as nights away.
So…what’s next?
Well, I do have another story to post—almost. I’m still editing it. It’s almost ready for beta readers. I just need to read through it a few more times. I planned to post it this summer, but summer got the better of me.
I should know better, as I do this every year. School’s out, kids are home, and I think “Hey, I’ll get writing done. No problem.”
Half way through and I’m like “Hey, now. I know I haven’t done as much as I planned, but I’m sure I can get back on track. I can totally write while the kids are home.”
No, I can’t. I know this after years of experience, but I delude myself into thinking I can. Then suddenly there’s two weeks of summer vacation left and the voice inside my head is saying “Screw it. The kids will be in school soon and then you’ll have time to write without constant interruptions.”
So, that’s where I’m at. Kids start school mid-August around here. Once school is back in, I get my scheduled writing time back. Scheduled writing time means the story will be finished and posted. I’m hoping it’ll be ready to read by mid-September.
Some information about it: it’s another story that features the Cakes. That’s all I’m saying for now, besides that I hope it’s sappy and cute (I think it is, but I need beta readers to tell me I’m not completely crazy).
Well, that’s all for now!
Epic Yarn, out!
Congratulations on your feature and successful marriage!
Congrats all around.
Will be looking out for your next story; if it's anywhere near as good as the Cake one, it'll be a treat.
The feature is how I heard of your story, so mad props on that!
If you are still looking for a beta reader, I'll gladly volunteer. I can pm you some of my work and past editing projects if you wish.

I may take you up on that. BlazzingInferno gets first dibs, so after that I’ll want another set of eyes.
Congrats indeed!
