Chapter up tomorrow. All of my Editors are either off having adventures in England or are busy being filthy Canadians and hence you're going to get raw Handyman in his unedited prime. God help you.

EDIT: Fuck it, its not the maps I owe you, but its the maps you're gonna get for now.

If, like me, you play an unhealthy amount of Crusader Kings II (getalifefgt), you'll be familiar with how odd these maps look. That is because its a map of all the playable provinces of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern China/Mongolia, Tibet and India. This is a current project I am working on to determine the cultural diversity of these countries Pre-Nuclear War, and then imagining how they'd diverge or change post war, with a 600 year interval. If you have ever played After The End you already know what I am trying to do. I've been going country by country and splitting the provinces up by Ethnicity, cultural difference, or if I cant get solid maps of either, language barriers or self identification (like Ukraine there, pre war is a mix between Ethnic Ukrainians, Ukrainian-Russian Mixed areas and areas that are so solidly Russian they are practically extensions of Russia itself. Then Post war have all these mixed areas focus around the Donetsk area and become NovoRussiky, a new culture distinct from both Ukrainian and Russian, but related to both.

Some countries, like Poland, had surprisingly diverse types of Poles... which I promptly ignored and made entirely new ones in post war Poland, other regions like the Balkans I consolidated to make it more fun and to increase rage in my Balkan readers (Yeah thats right, I saw you) and went with a very distinctive FuckTurkey and FuckArabs approach in the Middle east to give smaller cultures more land to work with and make the battle for Anatolia something hard to fucking achieve. You Byzantineophiles wanna resurrect Magna Graecia and the Might of Rome? Earn it motherfuckers.

Religion is going to be another fun thing but editing religions in CKII is arcane as fuck so that will likely take me the longest, right now I'm just trying to piece together what goes where culturally.

B O I

Or you've had enough of their shite and are secretly planning to have them replaced with advanced artificial intelligence. I'm onto your shenanigans Handy and I won't be bamboozled.

Well, color me surprised, i actually thought you had abbandoned us to start writing fanfictions of the sonic saga.

On the other hand: Thank god you ain't doing that shit.

Man, I still haven't even played Vanilla CK2 yet because I'm so intimidated by its complexity.

4914868
Oh you think CKII is complex? I'm terrified to death of EUIV. It is no longer the game it was on vanilla release. And I have yet to get into the Hearts of Iron games, they look like a lot of fun but I cannot figure out industry to army correlation or how the armies actually work. Once in HOI3 I used cheats to make Ireland utterly covered in forts, industry and airfields, I was autocratic to boot so I was effectively playing Supervillain Ireland with underground factories. One day a farmer will be walking by a field, a tree will tip over, a chimey emerge from the ground, belch out thousands of pounds worth of smoke, then disappear beneath the ground while the tree stands back in place.

I still lost.

Give me a holler if you ever decide to try EU 4 mp. Its easy with someone to walk you through it. And with the mp system Paradox has, only the host has to own all the expansions (all the players get them as well while in the mp session).

I may just try out CK2's After the End Fan Fork mod, if only to amuse myself by conquering the Americas under the banner of the Angel Moroni.

YAY FOR UPDATES!!! :yay:

The Mormons are one of the 'Christian' factions with three or four heresies, its actually hilarious. Ironically, the 'Falling Star' Cult have no heresies despite the fact that Religion can very easily veer off into literal Lucierfarianism by dint of its interior logic. I hope they get around to making more crazy religions and heresies.

You may praise me, your Lord and Master, for personally kicking Handyman in the ass to get the creative juices flowing.

4914914

I saw. Seems to be it’s own group of religions, far as the game is concerned. The Fan Fork mod seems to correct a bit of heresy for the mainstream Church, and gives polygamy to one of the Mormon heresies... when people will tell me that Mormonism itself is a heresy anyway. For your After the End Europe map, Mormons may range from any sort of enclave or missionary effort events to full-on invasions from the West ala Sunset Invasion. ...Though, any number of invasions can conceivably come from the West.

“Mormons take Jerusalem!”

“Americanists take London!”

“Norse take Denmark!”

“American Colonists!”

4914902
I think After The End is more complex than Vanilla, what with all the different religions and such. It's also more punishing for the player if they make a mistake or just get unlucky. Definitely wouldn't recommend it unless you have a decent idea what you're getting into.

On the other hand the sheer ridiculousness of everything, including the aforementioned punishments, usually makes up for the frustration. Case in point: one of my better runs trying to unite Florida was suddenly ended when Batman, without any provocation whatsoever, came down from New York with a 20,000-strong army and kicked my provincial ass. I was a bit miffed about it at the time, but afterwords I had a good laugh.

filthy Canadians

Throw 'em in a snowbank. Voila! Clean Canadians! :pinkiehappy:

4914940

Even so, I probably should get a handle on vanilla first.

May there be more of this "Motivation" then.

Chapter up tomorrow.

my body is ready

Wow I completely missed this in my feed. Don't know how the hell that happened.

{insert joke about Handy going in raw}

That was quite the chapter gap. Gonna have to go back and read the last three chapters to remember what's going on.

Shit goes down in dragon town( mountain )

4915375
Honestly I had so much more planned for the Dragon arc that didn't make it in because of the way things turned out, (and I was in the middle of the mother of all creative slumps), but that's happened before with the Greenwoods arc. I'll manage.

4914877
I'll consider it, if I ever boot the game up again.

Damn it JBL

4914939
For my After Europe map, I have no idea what western Invasion I'll go with. Probably multiple exclusive ones, so you're never sure exactly WHICH Americans show up to the party. Could be Americanist Libertarians wishing to spread the word of Lady Liberty, could be Mormon Expeditionaries. Cetic conquerors who wish to teach us the ways of peace and tolerance by force, Atomicist ninnies, or the fucking Norse.

Or just straight up NeoMayans and Aztecs. Again.

4914940
I laughed when I saw the Rothschilds were a dynasty in the kingdom of Gotham. Even six hundred years after the Apocalypse they are still fucking everyone economically.

4914941
Now that's just cheating.

4914951
Probably for the best.

4915053
Oh so that's the full version of that song.

4915070
No, no it isn't.

Shit happens on the way to Texas.

4915301
You missed the entire romance chapter arc.

4915381

I didn't think Mayans and Aztecs were in the After the End world.

4915481
The Neomayans exist, and are the result of 21st century Neopagan revivalism, New Ageism and superstition, mixed with Aztecs myths, legends and traditions that survived in Yucatan Mexico. Mix and Stir for 6 centuries, you get a strange variation of the old world Mayan religion. The believe in One True God, Hunab Ku and their collective worship of all things, they believe Mayan civilization was not wiped out, but moved to another reality during the event, (apocalypse) before returning, wherein they believe the Event preceded the Age of Aquarius which they believe in now. They barely resemble the other Mesoamerican faiths in the game, but because they believe in the shared underworld of Xibalba and the origins of Hunab Ku, they grouped in with them as a religion group.

The other Mayan religion is Uahomche, which is a fusion of Catholicism and traidtional Mayan beliefs. These Mayans belief the Event was the end of the Fifth World Cycle and that they currently inhabit the sixth, and the Event was caused by both a lack of sacrifices and the majority of Mayans converting to Monotheism. Their gods are referred to as Angels, however, but are largely unchanged from the pre-Christian deities they worshipped.

The Aztecs, ho boy, the new Aztecs are called the Miclantecs, a revival of Aztec traditions for the new age of the Dead Sun. The last world cycle ended in apocalypse because the previous Sun God Huitzilopochtli was nearly destroyed in his struggle against the darkness, the death god Mictlantechtli was largely responsible for saving humanity and is considered the new Sun God. Hence the 'Dead Sun'

The Sol Invicta are sun worshipping whackjobs and is a syncretic mix of Aztec and Catholic beliefs, they believe in the same struggle against the darkness by the sun god as the Miclantecs, but instead they are a firmly monotheistic religion, with their supreme deity Sol Invicta, the sun goddess, the Unconquered Sun. Adherents belief she is in eternal battle against the Dark Father (which to me strikes of strictly neo-gnostic influences of the demiurge) and that the event was a particularly destructive battle between the two.

The rest of Central America is a mixture of Saint Cultists, Catholics who take pious devotions a little too far and end up worshipping saints as deities, a bit like the snake cultists that the Evangelicals like to pretend don't exist up north.

4915492

Hm. Makes me wonder, still, about any sort of lore about Granite Mountain, the LDS's doomsday genealogical vault built into a mountain.[1]

mormonnewsroom.org/media/1200x675/orig_Vaultentrance_27Apr10.jpg

I bet this comment won't get down voted.

4915532
Had a look around the map. One of the best things about this map is that counties with interesting sites, artificial or otherwise, give it a modifier adding nothing but a bit of lore to the counties you conquer, so I thought that cave you're linking to was located somewhere in Mormon country, but it isn't. I'll post about it on the mod forum to see if I am missing something or if they have yet to add it.

4915625

Honestly, it would be an overpowered asset to Deseret in an After the End scenario because imagine what else could be saved in those caves.

But if I'm being honest, the scenario runs wholly on this weird American amnesia balkanization anyway.

4914935
I will only praise you, oh lord and master, if you manage to kick Handy's ass enough for at least three chapters this year.

filthy Canadians eh?
I'm from Canada and I don't take too kindly to that.

where you at nibba

Why the hell... who went around chain disliking this? What kind of ducheflute...
