There is an old story I read a while back i’m trying to find. It was a pony on earth style fic, and had the mane 6, the princesses, and a bunch of other ponies being raised by one human. I think it is gone from the site cause the original account that had the story got goofed up and the author never got around to posting it on the second account they made. Would love to be able to find this gem of a story again.
Did you look on FIMFetch? If you know the author's name, it should be easy to find it on there.

I have not, but I will definitely have a look there. This story was a really fun one and I’ve been wanting to reread it for a while

It sure is, it sounds like a fun story! Also, here's a little pro tip:
If you want any story to be reliably preserved for you, download it (both as txt/html and epub file, in case you want/need to read it on your phone) and make a screenshot of the description and of Author's Notes you would like to remember. And make sure to have your data backuped somewhere, either online or on an external HD. That way, no one can take any story from you anymore. The same goes for other content; fanarts, pony animations, ect.
Or, if you want to play it extra safe (and have it easier), safe each story you read and each chapter of these stories in the WaybackMachine and on archive.is and then bookmark it. That's the easiest and fastest way to keep the stories you love with you.

Thanks a ton for the tips. I’ve been on this site for a while but I haven’t explored all the features. I mostly just try and look for some nice reading material. One of my bookshelves is full of stories i recommend other people read cause of how good the were.

The download feature is rather obvious and easy to find. Just click on the tiny, grey cloud with an arrow at the side of each chapter to download single chapters or, if you want to download all chapters at once, click on the tiny arrow at the top right of every story, and then on the format of your choice.
The latter option is also the only way if you want/need an epub file, this file type is only available for an entire story, not single chapters.

Yeah, I don’t always use that feature cause I don’t have much room left on my phone and iPad. It’s nice to have it downloaded though

Do you not have a desktop computer?

I have a very old Mac (12 years old). It’s not too reliable anymore

I see. In that case, archiving the stories you want to keep online is the better option for you:
