Tales from the Well - What Happened When Daphne and Amelia Came Home · 10:01pm Sep 2nd, 2018

I know I said I wouldn't write it, but it was impossible not to write it. As you know from my previous blog post, I finished my non-fanfic book last week and was taking a break from writing. This story, though, has been knocking around in my head for years. It just wouldn't quit, no matter how hard I tried.

It's the story of the day Daphne and Amelia came home, from the perspective of their mother Delilah, who is just as touched as they are and suffering badly from it. She and her husband, Aaron Ocean, cope with having lost and regained their children, with a difficult reunion where they witness the changes their children have gone through and must respond and account for their own trials.

Some of you may recognize the latter part of the story, which was taken from one of my blog posts last year. It's here been expanded with an earlier scene featuring Marcus' and Naomi's parents, as well as a more thorough introduction to Daphne and Amelia's grandmother, Henrietta Thorsen. It touches on the hidden reason why Daphne's parents put her through repressive psychotherapy, something that I left very unclear in the original work and more for implication. No one ever reflected on how Delilah's own green-eyed nature would have manifested, though, so I hope this clears things up.

I may or may not one day continue this. I make no promises – Pirene is in my past, even if it continues to occupy my thoughts years after I've finished it. I have to make a living, after all. We'll see, though, there may come a time when you'll get more of the story. For now, enjoy what we've got.

For now, enjoy what we've got.

That's my attitude towards this site in general. There's a reason I thank everyone for their stories. In any case, very nice to know there's more of Pirene to partake of.

Well, that's how it goes sometimes, yes? You record a story, let it into your head, and then find that it doesn't wish to leave. Whether or not you ever intend to write any more of it down, I'd wager you've quite a bit of what happened later on in the "Age of Aquarius" rattling about upstairs.

Rather like a cat, isn't it? Inspiration? It will never show itself when convenient or called for, but it'll wake you up in the middle of the night and refuse to let you be. Such a marvelous nuisance.

Oh you have no fucking clue.

There's entire Age of Aquarius plotlines up here. I could write a whole thing on it. I have 3 generations of characters beyond the present ones.

Hey I won’t complain ^^ all stories need an ending, but that shouldn’t mean we should forever leave them. :)

Even if you just wanted to write an outline of that, I'd read the heck out of it.

The most basic goes like this:

  1. First Age {stories about first age gods, the Harmonious Concordance of Shinar, and alicorns} (10,000 BCE)
  2. New Era {Pirene, Delilah's Birthday} (2012)
  3. Intermediary {Three Nights in Manehattan, Little Equestria, Shadow of the Moon} (2027)
  4. Second Generation {stories about new gods and alicorns while Human Earth is still unaware of what's going on} (2032)
  5. Union {Alicorn Door, this era has kind of a superhero feel, children of the second gen, and Human Earth and Equestria Earth have re-merged. The rise of magic and demons have broken conventional countries, and in some places demons are such a problem that you can't go out at night unless you can fight demons. A charismatic sorcerer becomes president of the US and institutes a fascist dictatorship, and is opposed by the third generation} (2045)
  6. The Twilight of Mortality {return of the Adversary and all his angels - he threatens the peace of all and they have to band together. Beings from many worlds - even the titans are enlisted in return for loosening their chains. The Tower of Babel is rebuilt and when the Adversay is defeated it leads to a new Golden Age where they never need fear mortality or entropy ever again. Peace reigns (2060)
