Believe it or not, I actually got some chores done today.

And that's saying something, because if Diablo IV was this good at any point last year, it would have definitely been near the top of my Best Games of 2023. You know, instead of being omitted entirely.

So let's just say that Armored Core VI absolutely just got smacked out of the running for Best Yesteryear Game.

    Updates and Such

Well, as a thunderstorm rolls overhead (and hopefully doesn't knock power out), I thought I'd offer some updates on what I've been up to.

Long story short, I'm pretty much in gaming overload at the moment.

Another Borderlands 2 Update · 12:55pm Jan 17th, 2019

Well, I believe we've retired nearly every item we came into True Vault Hunter Mode with, save for the Chain Lightning grenade on my end, and The Bee on Brady's. We're currently salivating at the thought of leveled variants of our favored guns.

I've noticed how short the main story of Borderlands 2 is when you're just playing the story. But we did have to break away and do four out of five rounds of Bandit Slaughter to get within one level of Where Angels Fear To Tread, as well as finally dig into our pile of Golden Keys to grab some leveled weapons to put an end to being, well, slaughtered. The long fight up to the tower, not to mention BNK3R, was the most brutal fighting we've had yet, at one level under. Surprisingly, once we got inside, that was the easiest part. Also, at long last, Brady's 1.9 bullet regeneration was finally, finally humbled by my new e-tech assault rifle, after dozens of levels of letting me fire my shotgun for damn near forever.

But the advantage to being one level under is you'll have the pick of the litter with all the overleveled loot you scoop up. Because of that, we're going to attempt to go through the last quarter of the story at one level under. We're both level 46 (my highest yet), headed to the Eridium Blight. Not that we're anywhere close to done. If we can manage to beat the story and get to level 50, every single side quest we've ignored will jump to 50 as well (so I'm told). Sweet Celestia, I've never seen so many exclamation marks on the map.

I would love to hit 50 before RE2 launches. I won't pretend there's a very real possibility of our Borderlands 2 run going on hiatus once my long awaited return to Raccoon City finally arrives, but we'll try to keep at it.

An inquiry into your gameplay tactics and such, if I may.

1) Which Vault Hunter are you playing as? I will assume Brady is the Gunzerker, since Salvador is the only character to give and grant bullet regeneration.

2) Shotguns and assault rifles. Which other forms of weapons do you prefer to utilise to massacre the denizens of Pandora with?

3) Also, what kind of "playstyle" are you going with? Raw damage, support, survivability, elemental (I highly doubt melee)?

1. I'm playing as Axton. I worked my way down the Guerrilla tree to the slag turret, and now I'm working my way down the Survival tree. According to my plan, I'll have two slag turrets at level 57, if we get that far.

2. Shotguns are actually a first for me this playthrough, I never really used them in my solo runs. If I come across a good sniper rifle, I'll keep one handy. Then in the fourth slot I usually keep a launcher, in case I absolutely HAVE to kill something in Fight For Your Life and Brady can't get to me.

3. As of now, and probably even more through TVHM and UVHM, I'm the tanky slag guy. My skills keep my shields and health almost constantly refilling. Brady is the glass cannon with The Bee shield, although it's effectiveness is now beginning to fade; he swapped out for a higher capacity shield after we defeated BNK3R. My playstyle is to keep my turret out as much as possible; I've always gone after relics that reduce the cooldown.

I tend to favor explosive elemental damage over anything else, with my shotgun and missile-equipped turret. It works decent against unarmored and armored targets, in my experience.

1) Ah... So, you're kitting your Sabre turret for a more supportive role over the direct damage one. In that case, once you have the points to do so, and if you haven't done already, I recommend going for the Phalanx Shield skill in Axton's Survival tree.

2) AR, ML, SR, and shotgun. Common but reliable combination. While I do personally enjoy using shotguns in most games, I kind of give the ones in BL2 a wide berth. Just, not so appealing to me for some reason. Could be lack of a cool pump-action or the report of the firing sounds too "weak" for my liking.

3) I'm surprised Brady opted for The Bee as a Gunzerker, 'cause Salvador is normally built to be the most reliably tank in the team. Indeed, his tankiness even surpasses Krieg under average conditions. But the Commando is quite resilient as well, and quite versatile.
