I've Been Wondering... · 4:16am Jan 21st, 2019
...what is the best way to do deal with depression besides antidepressants. I've been in a downward spiral since mid-December and although I perked up at the beginning of the year, the spiral has resumed. Rock bottom is near and the last time that happened I was minutes away from doing the deed if my wife hadn't caught me in the act. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Sit down and talk with your wife or family about your issues. I've been through the same thing due to stress and talking with my relatives about it made me feel at ease.
Therapy is the best option although diet and exercise can help too
Just in case this the hotline for Suicide Prevention 1-800-273-8255. Even if you're just talking about self-harm, call them if it gets bad enough. Depression can be treated differently among people, so find a therapist you can connect with. If you have health insurance through your work, see if mental health is covered on it.
When I have those moments of down, I often find cute things that I can focus on and after a while I'm good. Then again, my depression is Clinical and tends not to pop up unless something else has flared up first (bout of anxiety/anger over whatever). So I have no idea if my method will be able to work for you.
