Aspiring fanfic writer with several dozen fics currently being written. All at once. In a horrible, inefficient mess.

    Not-New fics, if anyone cares.

Got a bunch of unfinished fics saved. I'm probably gonna publish them just so they're out there soon. Most of Sunset centric, none are of that high quality. They'll probably be out in a month or so, I want to clean them up first. If any of them get enough interest I might try to finish it.

End of MLP:FiM, and do I care? Not a bit. Also a small update + idea

(Thought I'd share this, I absolutely love it. Check out Anontheanon, he is amazing.)

Okay, I haven't watched the show seriously since Season 4. The only episodes I've seen after that is when I really need to understand a fic, and I've no option but the skim through an episode.

    Hey look...

...BronyCon blogs. I haven't gone to BronyCon. I didn't even know it was on now. Nor do I care too much for it.

I'm really just remarking on it because my blog feed is just "BronyCon BronyCon BronyCon Golden Oaks Brony Con!" I feel like I'm missing out, even if, as I've already said, I don't care for it.

    Question to anyone who'll respond:

Am I the only one who thinks Fanfiction.net's system is horrendously flawed and/or outdated?
I wouldn't really think much of it, but I've been using AO3 a lot more recently, and when compared to that, it's utter shit. And then Fimfic is even better - all hail to our lord and saviour knighty, never seen a better system for a website like this, even if it is not perfect.

I think I'm almost done with MLP fanfiction.

I just realised I haven't really touched this site for a while. I still check on updates now and again, but I haven't actually looked for any stories for about a month now. So, I think when season 9's influence starts to die out, I might just quit MLP. I've just lost enthusiasm. I honestly don't know why I'm sharing this, but I felt the need to do so anyway.

Or some other clever blog title.

Anyway, is it me or is Fimfiction sort of... subdued, recently? I feel a lot of the stories are starting to just... slow, in both updates and good stories getting out there. I have a tracking bookmark for stories I consider dead, cancelled or on hiatus - there are currently 348 stories in there, and I'm sure I'll have to update it again soon, considering how many good stories seem to have just... died.
Maybe there's something going on that I haven't noticed that prevents everyone from doing stuff, but I used to get an average of 15 notifications each day - more recently, I've gotten around 6. That's counting updates and blog posts, btw. And I know people get busy and so on and so forth, but this just seems... strange. I'm not saying there's some ridiculous conspiricy happening - I'm certains there's not - but it's just weird. I'm not used to it.

No one will really see this, coming from a fairly insignificant user, but if there's an actual answer beyond a coincidence, I'd like to hear it.
(It also just occured to me that FiM is ending. But is that really a good factor in this? It's not over yet. Season 9 hasn't even begun yet.)

I know what you mean. I've started looking for good stories that are worthy of reading, but all I found was the stuff from a few years ago.

Well, it is exam season.

...Really? That's now? I thought... huh. Guess my exams work differently. Allways have them in summer.

Well, I'm having final major projects. I'm at arts college.

Either way, I'd wait until the final season or closer to the final season. New ideas.

I don't think fimfic writing will end with the show. There may be a slump for a month or two but Avatar: The Last Airbender's fan attention didn't end when the show did.
An end to canon means no boundaries for fanon. People can speculate whatever they please without fear of being jinxed.

I have no doubts about whether or not the fandom will continue - it's pretty damn evident they (or should I say, we) are devoted to this community. That really shouldn't even be questioned in the first place.

To be honest though, about the new ideas thing - I'm not looking for new stories. In my bookshelf that tracks the 'alive' stories, there's currently 295 entries - that's really enough for me, coupled with the 165 read it later entries. It's just that only about 30 or 40 of them have updated this year, and only about 8 these past few weeks have gotten a new chapter.

Everyone will have new ideas once season 9 comes around, that's a certainty, but really, I'm not looking for that at the moment anyway, and I'm finding myself with no alternative. It's... frustrating, but really, there's not much I can do about it anyway. Little point in complaining, I suppose.

Ah well. I get your concern.
Still, a lot of things can happen. People on the internet still have lives outside of it and a lot of those lives can be very complicated.
I've made the same mistake and felt the same worry.
But I should know. My writing's nearly ground to a halt with my final-major project underway. I'm going to take advantage of finishing in May to get back in the game.
