    River City Equestria Girls?

Seriously, that's Pinkie Pie on the left, and Rainbow Dash on the right. Tell me I'm wrong.

I will not write a fanfic about the two of them getting into all the fights.

    Probably.

An "I don't have livejournal anymore" sort of update.

    It snowed yesterday.

Which just reminded me how much I don't like winter. It wasn't even a bad snow, just enough of a dusting to linger for a little bit. First one of the season. And I even had the day off from work, due to my schedule, so it's not like I had to do anything ...

    So I didn't.

    Happy Halloween!

So yeah. Despite various distractions (Steam had Darkest Dungeon for UNDER FOUR BUCKS), I've managed to hammer out a ridiculously shippy conclusion to the self indulgent Rarijack story I started.

So that's fun? I gave myself a deadline to finish things on Oct 31, so that's what I did, dangit. Hopefully you guys will enjoy.

Tumbleweed vs. She's All Yak · 10:23pm May 12th, 2019

SCENE:

THE LEGION OF DOOM MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC WRITER'S ROOM.

SOMEBODY IN CHARGE: Okay, so. We need some episode ideas.

WRITER #1: What if we borrow a plot from a famous movie?

WRITER #2: Like Die Hard!

WRITER #3: Or Event Horizon!

WRITER #4: What about My Fair Lady?

And there we go.

Really, after last week's ep, I suppose just about anything will look dull in comparison. I'm not a huge fan of the Student Six-- honestly, now that I think of it, they kind of feel like the generic, undeveloped cast of the kind of kids shows Lauren Faust was trying to differentiate MLP from when she put the show together. I mean, each of Twilight's friends has their own interests and foibles, whereas the Student Six boil down to "The big one" and "the shy one" and "whatever the hell Sandbar is supposed to do."

... also I guess Sandbar & Yona (Yandbar?) are a ship now?

At least the first half of the episode is solid, as it focuses on Rarity & Co's efforts to help Yona, leading to various bits of comic business. Honestly it's the sort of thing you could've done in an earlier season with a random guest star pony, but eh. And things inevitably lead to disaster, and somebody needs to use the footage from this ep to make a PMV to this song.

And, y'know, now that I think of it, there's the barest hint of an 'important moral' in there, in matters of cultural integration and maintaining one's own identity, so I guess the ep's heart is in the right place?

So yeah. Half a decent episode in there. Nice animation, at least. Not-terrible song. And Rarity, of course, continues to be the best. Buuut yeah, kind of feels like a waste of an episode when we've only got a dozen or so left for the rest of the series, but I guess they all can't be winners.

All of them together!!

I liked it. A bit heavy on the cringe here and there, but a lot more enjoyable than "Uprooted". I really enjoyed the song, and I FREAKING LOVED THE REFERENCES. But, as Dr. Wolf said in his review, I can understand why some people might not enjoy it as much, particularly if they don't already like Yona as a character.

Somewhere there is one yandbar shipper freaking out, and that makes me so happy.

But not calling it "my fair yak"? Come on, that's amateur

I think it's called YonaBar now?

And yeah. This episode was really weird, and not in a good way.
