Next chapter uses a lot of unicode, folks! · 2:15am Jul 9th, 2019
Hey guys! So for this upcoming chapter I found myself in need of a way to show something without a character being aware of it and well, Gears is the POV character so, that was hard. I did find a way through, it involves unicode characters.
Now, FiMFic supports unicode, so the story will display proper on a desktop running a modern OS. If you are running something else, you are going to see quite a few square boxes like this []. Howeaver, I have come to you with a solution!
It's a crappy solution, but it's all I got.
If you are using a mobile device, IOS or Android, make sure the operating system is freshly updated. That's the only way I can find to make sure you have support for Unicode 12.0 (I think I only used 7.0 characters, but you never know...). After that, you'll need to search for how to enable Unicode text encoding in your browser of choice.
If you are on Windows or Mac, and for some reason it doesn't work, you'll need to search for how to enable Unicode text encoding in your browser of choice. Fortunately, Firefox and google chrome should automatically be using Unicode to make displaying other languages easier :3
If you are on Linix and it doesn't work, may Celestia have mercy on your soul if you approch THAT rabbit hole.
If you can't do any of that, don't sweat it. To be honest, it might be a more creepy effect if it's just empty boxes, and well, I'm going for creepy
Lenny loves unicode. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Linux and Unicode, for when you absolutely positivily want to bring down an alien invasion fleet.
Using Chrome, there's a desktop display mode that usually works for these things.
