Getting back into MLP, what would you like me to write about? · 1:25am Aug 20th, 2019
So recently I began rewatching MLP and have gotten really interested again in the show. There was nothing that drove me away... I just got busy with other series that were more popular than what I was doing here and my muse wasn't giving me story ideas for anything I was writing.
That said, I do want to try my hand at writing something in MLP but want your opinion one what I should tackle. here are a few ideas I have...
* Another Episode-Style Story like Apple Family Values. This would be another challenge for me, to write something that fit completely into the mold of a standard MLP episode. For this there would be three optons:
** Big Mac Friendship Map story. This would have people decide on another pony joining Big Mac to solve a friendship problem, which would make for a ton of fun depending on who was selected. One of the main six? Another male (Big Mac and Shining Armor, for example?). Explore them dealing with the problem and how they differ from the girls.
** Mothers Day Episode. So this is something I actually originally planned to do as the sequel to Apple Family Values but would work so much better now that we know of all the Mane 6. The premise would be the girls getting excited because their mothers are coming for a visit and running around getting ready. But the MAIN story would follow Twilight Velvet, Mrs. Shy (would need a full name for her), Cloudy, Windy, Cookie, and Granny Smith all being given as their first gift a trip to a spa. But when the Diamond Dogs attack the 6 moms must unite to take out the threat and show where their girls got their stuff. Possible further ideas would have Buttercup appear as a ghostly figure only one of the mothers could see (maybe Velvet or someone of the like who has a natural talent for sensing such things) and also a cameo but the dragon that is Spike's mom
**Episode style introduction to the capricorns. Yes, everything comes back to the biggest thing I introduced to the fandom: The capricrons. Basically this would be a Season 8 or 9 story that would give a show-style origin and set up to Tydal and his Kingdom. The capricorns would be race that travels through the seas and only end up on Equestria's shores once every 200 years... and every time they've done so has been marked with chaos and confusion. Twilight and the girls would seek to defend Ponyville from the Marauders only for a few of them (or maybe the Young Six) to be saved by Tydal and learn that from his view ponies are dangerous and they always attack his subjects. The misunderstanding would be cleared up and the capricorns would decide to remain nearby from now on. Tydal wouldn't be shown to be related to Celestia and Luna but they would now of him. The goal would be to give him a show-style portrayal.
*Continue The God Squad: Equestria's Mightiest Immortals. The only reason this isn't my top pick is that I don't want to get pigeonholed into being just 'The Guy that can only write about his OC and the alicorns". BUT if there is enough interest I'd be willing to return. I do know that after the the Save Tydal Arc I'd want to begin doing more smaller-cast stories. For example, the next arc would be the Saddle Arabia Arc with Discord, Shining, and Cadance which would have a ton of parodies about Aladdin and also showcase why Cadance, not Tydal, is the Dragon of the God Squad. I would also love to do my Slice of Life 100th chapter, a Sisterhoof Social story with Celestia, Luna, Coral, and Misty, a Tydalmas episode with Sunset, Tydal, and Chrysalis, and a return to Ponpan. Speaking of Ponpan...
* 'Mystical Pony Friends: Companions Most Good' . Based on Sparkle-San from Crisis of Infinite Twilights, this would be a parody story structured that MLP was a fan favorite anime that was being dubbed for American Audiences. Focusing on Sparkle-San, hoofmaiden of the Sun Empress Celestia, she is the only one to escape capture by the Night Empress Nightmare Moon. She'd make friends with Strong Jac, Rarity the Queen of Thieves, Demon Hunter Dash of the Rainbow Tribe, and Nightmare Moon's reformed minions the Oni Twins Shy and Pie.
EDIT: "What about the Abstract Saga?"
Believe it or not I have attempted to return to this a few times and even wrote an outline out of one of the major stops for Faith, Twilight, and Spike, which would see them in Prance and would have Tydal FINALLY snap out of the depression he is in (an emotional scene as it involves the near death of a child and Tydal remembering why he, above all other capricorns, was named King... because he fought to protect the innocent). But here is the problem... the Saga is just such a draining thing for me to write that returning to it can't be done on a whim. If I am going back into MLP I want to dip my toe in the water.
Why not start off with something small like the Mother's Day episode fic, and then delve back into the God Squad?
I would absolutely adore you if you continue The God Squad! I've been waiting so long!

I would like to see a continuation of the God’s Squad, or finding Scootaloo, but I will take a new story as well.

The only issue with the Abstract Saga is that is such a deep dive and mentally I'm not prepared for that to be the first pony work I dive back into.
As much as I want to see the Abstract saga, you're right about putting it on the fence for a while. That said, Mother's day first, God Squad second.
I like the Episode style one about the Capricorns. Maybe something with them and Seaquestria and the Hippogriffs.
How about something silly like the many origins of Scootaloo? Just to get into the swing again.

The idea would be that Tydal's Keep is on a floating island that constantly moves around the world. The capricorns believe that ponies are their natural enemies due to misunderstandings so the few races that DO know of them never speak a word. Thus the Seaponies keep the capricorns a secret as they are able to provide supplies to them that they couldn't get, due to their ability to go on sea or land.
I'd love to see God Squad continued, and Mystical Pony Friends sounds hysterical. Also, welcome back to the fandom! Remember, you can check out, but you can never leave!
As unhelpful as this statement may be, I like the sound of all these ideas. But I like the Capricorn or Mother’s Day the most of the listed ideas as a way to get back into things. Although I would equally like if God Squad or Abstract were continued in the future if possible, and Mystical Pony sounds like a fun idea in general.
Honestly, I don't really mind what you write. It's just nice to have you back.

Personal vote is for God squad to continue, but everything I’ve read by you in the past was quality, so do what calls to you in the end.
Personally I would like to see the continuation of the Abundance
I would enjoy an introductory story for the Capricorn’s then continuing The God Squad. Gives me time to finish the outline for our crossover chapter
I'd like to see the continuation of "The Dawn will come" or "The search for Scootaloo".

Thank you for explaining your situation. I completely understand how it can be draining and tiring, and don't want you to feel bad or guilty. Take all the time you need to rest up and get your creative juices going. *smiles*

Thanks. The Should-Have-Been-King is just the most mentally draining thing I write due to how deep it is and the subjects it covers. It isn't a fun romp... it deals with dark stuff and if I'm not in the correct headspace and motivated to write it can be a real struggle to get words onto page. I do want to complete it but I need to start out small coming back to MLP
A nice twist would be showing that one or two of these mothers (perhaps Mrs. Shy and/or Cookie Crumble) are not up to the task. Not every character has to contribute in the same way, and it's not inconceivable that the Mane Six got their moxie primarily from their dad.
I would also really enjoy seeing more of your Doctor Whooves adventures.
And I'm ALWAYS hungry for more epic adventure in the Abundance universe! It's the reason I started reading any of your stories.

That doesn't just mean fighting. For example, I see Rarity's mom as being a world class traveler so her thing would be finding a way out. Mrs. Shy wouldn't be a fighter but she is a cloud sculpter so she could be able to help design things...
