    Two Years of This

On February 24, 2022, eight years after they launched a limited invasion and occupation of border regions, the regime of Russia attacked Ukraine from multiple sides with the intent of fully conquering the nation, thence to dismember choice territories and install a puppet regime over whatever remained. Their justifications - imperial revaunchism, nationalist lies, and contempt for what they view

Fan art for "Evil Must Be Healthy"

A pleasant surprise found me a few days ago on learning an enterprising pony commissioned fan-art for my little AU from the illustrious Pencils! Just thought I'd share. :derpytongue2:

With thanks to both the artist and commissioner.

Going to Everfree Northwest this year!

Exactly what it says on the tin! If anyone else is going (and if there's any kind of Fimfiction discord meetup group on it~), please let me know. With travel and etc. I likely won't be going to many of these, so I'd love to RL meet as many Fimfic peeps as I can.

Cover art for "Evil Must be Healthy."

There are few feelings for an author quite as wonderful as receiving fan art, all the more because I found it by sheer chance. While the artist MrRicharZ has taken it down from Derpibooru he was kind enough to let me use his work as cover art for the story.

Dramatic read for "The Splendid Panzers of Miss Harshwhinny"

I like that story enough (and have grown fond enough of listening to dramatic reads) that I have commissioned one from our own Skijarama!

(There is also commissioned cover art on the way, too.~)

Blues, blues, blues, reds, greens · 9:13pm Oct 14th, 2019

I always get a bit of blues after finishing a long story, and now is no exception. I also watched the finales today, which added substantially to the feeling.

I remember crying after reading Simply Rarity on the way to my first big-boy job. MLP has been a part of my entire adult life.

I am happy and grateful they gave over the last episode to a slow, peaceful salute to the show's long and beautiful life. Even though I think I wouldn't be half so bluesy if Hasbro went "LOL, g'bye" instead. Even the action-y final episodes - formulaic though they were - gave us an exciting last full hurdle to overcome, and a sense that everything before had built up to this battle.

The fandom isn't dead. Obviously. Hell, plenty of active authors stopped watching a while ago, and I myself took a pass on most of S8. And as I've cheerfully told everyone and whispered into the night, I'm going to my first brony convention next year, so in some ways I'm just getting started. And yes, I'm going to keep writing. I have a lighthearted short I'm trying to get started on, and an OC-heavy drama I so badly want to write and know no one will read. I also want to do a story with reader-suggested chapters for the Undead-verse, as a big ol' thank you to the peeps who came along for the ride.

But I keep sitting down to write, and I can't shake the melancholy. All I want to do is boot up Civ 5 again and waste another 15 hours failing to beat difficulty 7. With the US national holiday today I got a four-day weekend, it feels like a waste to let pass without any writing, and instead I'm writing this.

I'll be fine. Soon.

Just blue dabba de da de dumb be dada dee dada...

Yeah, most of the people proclaiming the impending death of the fandom are also people who haven't bothered to watch the actual show in several seasons, and failed to notice the contradiction.

any plans on continuing the sunset vs the undead universe you created?

and i know how you feel... that's why i never watch the final episode of any tv show..

Dude, I know the feeling. I didn't get to partake as much with the fandom outside watching videos since I was in university for most of the series' run and only recently took to writing fanfiction as a form of therapy for the most stress filled years of my life to get back to my creative side. I keep saying it; but G4 MLP is not just gonna vanish overnight. I mean there's a shit-ton of other fandoms that have persisted longer than I've been around. That's the beauty of living in the digital era. No matter where you are; there's always droves of like-minded people who'll happily help you indulge in pretty much anything people have strong feelings for. Hell, I continue to write my own alternate universe take on Equestria Girls AND serve as an editor for another fic.

Bee-tee-dub, only now getting to finishing Sunset Shimmer Hunts the Undead. Figure I get as much down in one go since when I powered through the prequel in one weekend's time, only to abruptly be deprived of content.

That's... Actually sound advice. If only I'd figured to suggest that on the Discord I hang out in since three or so somebodies won't shut up about FiM and EqG ending to the point where it's becoming less sad and more irritating. :trixieshiftleft:

Which con do you plan to go to?

I came here to ask this

Author Interviewer

What is with that post-publication depression? D: It hits even when I post something silly, with no consequences. And then I'll be all, "Time for the next thing!" and then my brain will be all, "lol nah" :| Frustrating.

I hope you enjoy that first con though. :D

Trotcon in Columbus, OH.

The idea of going to pone-cons never much appealed to me... I don't terribly care to stand in line for a brief smile and signature from a celebrity, and talking-head panels bore me. I never expected there to be much for me aside from vendor halls, and there would only be so much money I'd care to spend.

I'm going because Trotcon has a tabletop game area. I wrote up a few simple-system RPG scenarios to run, and I figure I'll do those with whoever's interested and meander/board game/attend interesting-looking events the rest of the time. I'm actually getting really excited, because to RP pones is something I can't do with my normal tabletop peeps and this is a chance to do so with my people. :coolphoto:

Kinda wanna do a reader-suggestion box thing. Stay tuned.

no one

You spelled Ice Star wrong.

Writing OC heavy drama that people may or may not read is some of the most fun I've had in ages. I think you'll enjoy it.

WHERE U GOIN' BOI

COME TO BABSCON, WE MUST SPEAK OF GREATER THINGS

5139454 yeah... with mlp i stopped watching in... season 3 I think? sort of realized i preferred stories over the actual show
