Blog Choices... · 6:45am Oct 27th, 2019
Sort of an idea I came up with. Now I know that in the case of my Monster Mares and You, stories that it is difficult to allow the readers to choose some of the actions/elements of the stories given that the stories are technically all one-shots.
So I thought I would ask and see what you all thought about the idea of having blogs where the readers will given choices similar to what I've done with Ask Roseate Grimsbane, where you can all vote on elements that could occur in future stories.
Now admittedly some of them might just be cosmetic, but there could be other choices that appear, depending upon whatever crazy ideas pop into my head.
Well, tell me what you all think. If you like it, I might have a decision to throw your way.
I think this is a great idea. I've read a couple of other fics with this theme where the author put 3-4 different options at the end of each chapter and threw up a Strawpoll link to vote. The comments were a blast to read, with everyone explaining their decisions and coming up with many hypothetical scenarios for each branching path, then seeing how close to those scenarios the results ended up being. One even had a goal to reach by a certain chapter to get one particular ending, and each choice had a risk/reward system that, depending on which one had the most votes, could be a safe option with little progress made or a potential catastrophe that had a huge payoff if it ended up going well; I think success rate was determined by rolling a virtual d20 or something. Either way, it was a really cool idea that I have yet to see implemented in any other stories, at least those of which I've come across, so maybe it's something you'd be interested in using for a story. So yeah, I'm definitely game for semi-CYOA stories.
5146298 Exactly. I would like to try to use these blogs to allow the readers of my second person monster mare series to be able to have some effect on the stories. I want to give enough freedom so it feels like they are the reader character while also maintaining enough control that I can still write the story that I want to tell.
I can't write stories to save my life but I have MANY great ideas for stories so I put up a post for people that don't have ideas for stories.
