My Movie Review of Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (Reconstructed & Re-Analyzed)

This is a completely modified version of my review on “Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island”. Along with presenting a greater sense of reconstruction to correct grammatical errors and all that sort of thing, this also presents a combination of my thoughts on the film both when I initially reviewed and re-analyzed it later the same year.

My Second List of Least Favorite Villains

Following my previous post, I was immediately inspired to go ahead and showcase another ten of my least favorite villains. The biggest reason for why is because I enjoyed creating the last one so much that I couldn’t resist doing it again, and it felt good to get it out of my system as well.

My Re-Analysis of Peter Rabbit (2018), and a Question I Have Regarding MLP · 4:06pm Nov 13th, 2019

I never really considered doing a review on a film twice. In fact, I'm not even sure if it's exactly what reviewers often do.

However, after seeing this movie again not too long ago, I found myself liking it more than the first time I watched and reviewed it.

Here's why:

I remember originally commenting that there were some gags that I wasn't entirely impressed with, notably the lip-reading moments and the deer and the headlights gag. However, I've been finding myself enjoying the film's comedy more than ever, even the gags that I mentioned which I wasn't fond of before. The only gags that I've been less than moved by were the gags with Pigling Bland and his eating habits, as to me, they were more obnoxious than funny.

In my original review, I commented that I wasn't really impressed with the performances outside of James Corden and Domhall Gleeson as Peter Rabbit and Thomas McGregor. After my latest look back on the movie, though, I found myself to be entertained by much of the other cast members too. I love how everyone was obviously having fun with portraying their characters, and how the characters themselves made every moment they were given enjoyable. The only exception, of course, comes from Pigling Bland's eating moments.

In the end, having enjoyed this movie more than before, I hereby upgrade my rating for "Peter Rabbit (2018)" from four out of five to 4½ out of five stars.

I wanted to take the time to ask you guys something that’s been buzzing around in my head for quite some time.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve often read comments regarding certain characters that are on the dark side or were formerly on the dark side. I’ve come across complaints from people saying that the reformed antagonists, such as Starlight Glimmer, should’ve been unreformed, while unreformed antagonists, such as Chrysalis, should’ve been reformed.

I really don’t get why that is because, for ones such as Starlight Glimmer, I found the reformations to be perfectly executed and reasonable. And I see no reason for why villains such as Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow should stop being villains since they’re clearly unredeemable. The last part, might I add, has even been the case with Lightning Dust.

It literally seems like when certain bad guys get reformed, people complain of their reformation and that they should’ve been unreformed. And when certain bad guys are unreformed, people complain that they should’ve been reformed!

Why is that, exactly?

The only reason I can give for Chrysalis is because she's attractive.
As for Starlight, I think people have issue with the fact that her main motivation for villainy was the equivalent of a child throwing a tantrum over a friend moving away.

It basically was a tantrum considering that later down the road we learn she had an otherwise normal childhood in The Parent Map. Not to mention that Applebloom went through a similar event in back in Season 1 with Twist yet she handle it with more maturity than Starlight did. Not to mention that Starlight could have made other friends or send letters to Sunburst but didn't, showing just how immature she really is.

What'd you guys think of my re-analysis of Peter Rabbit?

She did go through a goth phase as a teenager. :applejackunsure: No idea what that was about.

I know Starlight's motivation for villainy was weak, but if she had stayed unreformed, she would have never gotten over Sunburst moving away or opened herself up enough to become friends with Trixie and Maud. I mean, is that what people really want? :applejackunsure:

Some villains are more mature and well-rounded than others, which would make it more interesting to wonder what they would be like as a good guy.
