Good Morning from my Writing Lair. This is Shadow_8472, and today, I'm going to try writing a scene for a prospective fanfiction I want to at least toy around with without committing to a full first chapeter. Let's get started.
I've recently gotten the DLC for Kerbal Space Program. I want to try writing a scene or two and see if it turns into anything.
Everything throbbed as Twilight came to. Machinery whined in the background and ponies were screaming like something was on fire.
A blurry, green stallion held up his hoof. "Ev soded sotnauq?"
Twilight narrowed her eyes and forced the hoof into focus. "Wait, are those... fingers?" She shook her head and tried casting a translation spell. Her magic fizzled. "Ow-- My new spell must have backfired and sent me to the Human world."
"Ojid al euq?"
An explosion outside rocked the building. Twilight's vision finally cleared. Five faces gazed back at her -- each as green as the first. Another explosion rocks the building. "Sonamav!"
Two green men each grab an arm and pull Twilight upright. A large, metal cone crashes through the ceiling, tearing through the floor in front of Twilight as the men help her dodge bits of falling debris.
Outside a figure dressed in a full body suit was gliding in on a parachute. The moment his boots touched the ground, he did a crouch and a somersault. Sticking the landing, he stood up and flashed two thumbs up.
"Equestria, I've had a problem!"
So, basically what I have is this: Twilight did something that switched her mind with that of a Kerbal in charge of a hugely unpopular and under funded space program, and the only way she is going to get back is by locating a magic asteroid.
During her time on Kerbin, Twilight will need to organize the failing space program and wrap her brain around a heliocentric solar system.
I have two problems though. If I want Twilight to succeed, she needs to both learn about magic boulders and find a way to translate. The easiest solution I can think of is Twilight finding a fragment of one -- not enough to do anything useful, but enough to get me off of playing with backwards Spanish.
I still have a lot of room for flexibility. I don't know if I want this to be set before or after EQG, or if I want her friends along for the ride.
Final Question: What do you think? Should I keep going in similar posts?
