When Children Come Home · 4:40am Nov 20th, 2012
I'm back, Fimfiction. I'm back and I'm here to stay. I couldn't hack it over at AiE, so I'm back here and I'm going to finish every god damned story I've started on this site. I'm dropping Emperor's Child completely, I'm just not satisfied at all with it. It started becoming a chore to write and I just don't like where it was going, and i know many of you are of like mind. I strayed too far from what it was at the beginning and the story suffered for it and now it's needlessly complicated. I'm gonna pull it down from here, but it'll still be up on my Pastebin.
Now, I go to work on Morgoth in Equestria.
I'm really sorry about this.
Glad you came back! If you're going to drop Emperor's Child, can we get the ending?
Sweet! I've been waiting for an update to Morgoth in Equestria!
The Dark Lord Morgoth approves.
Awwwwww as a stereotypical Canadian would say

I'm very sad you decided to drop ECiE... It has been a constent source of entertainment for me since I found it. But I understand your reasoning and will be checking out your other fics
Don't worry, Imperius... You may be leaving AiE for now, but the connections you made there won't be for naught.
I'm still here with my plate of spaghetti...
Forever...

Wuten, the time I spent and the friends I made in AiE were some of the greatest of my life. For once I really, honestly felt like I fit in. And once I'm done here I'll be right back to ponying it up with you guys. I'm just not sure how long it'll take. I'll be back though, rest assured. After all, we're here forever.
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” I'll just leave this quote and go back to lurking. Yeah.

Back? Boy, you ain't leavin', you jus' stop writin' stuff for us for a lil' while. You gon' be hangin' out wit' us for a looooong time...
Like I've said a thousand times over...
You can checkout anytime you like,
But you can never leave...
HEY HEY HEY! If you're that upset about what's happened to Emperor's Child, don't you think you should at least fix it?

The only way to fix it would be to do it over completely.

I suppose so. I'm just a bit upset that it's getting discontinued, because it was one of my favorites.
How true to Tolkien lore will your new cross-over be? How serious will it take itself? The guy who started The White Rider took a huge break to research the Silmarillion (along with delays due to his personal life and Hurricane Sandy, but that's neither here nor there...).
Anyway.... I'm sincerely sad to hear about this story ending. And actually angry that you took it down! What the hell?! It deserves to stay on fimfiction.net! It is completely unique, in a competent way. Sure there are fools who know nothing of Warhammer [40K]. Sure there are purists who refuse to associate a kernel of slapstick or satire with their favorite, dark, dystopic fantasy universe. But your upbeat universe (or at least, the part of it that got dropped in Equestria) actually helped me (and I'm sure others) appreciate aspects of the canon even more! Your ridiculous descriptions actually do put into perspective just how bucking insane aspects of the W40K really are.
I have actually read several on the plethora of the W40K novels, and you have a more developed villain/anti-hero character than some of those paid authors. Unlike Anonymous (I can’t even remember his “real” name), some space marines are just whiny little bitches who join Chaos, despite lifetimes of being told what a bad idea that is, because they think their battle brothers are being UNFAIR. Sort of like a certain Jedi knight played by a certain sub-par actor.
You also changed my perception of an entire genre of stories. Before reading the first few paragraphs of Emperor’s Child, I immediately dismissed any story with the description of “second person” or “starring you” as a shitty, cliché romance fic. Most of them still are. But you taught me a lesson I could write to the Princess about: not to label an entire category.
I could of course go on about the problems this story has, even for an off-the-wall fanfiction about candy colored ponies and aliens. And there are plenty, with pacing, transitions, and the crowbarring of certain W40K fanfiction elements at the cost of what the buck makes sense. But I won’t. That isn’t what’s on my mind when I think of your story. And it isn’t what you need to hear right now. What you need to get through your head right now is that you need to respect yourself, and your readers by keeping your work of art on display for all to see, whether you consider it a mistake or not, so that others can enjoy it, learn from it, or be inspired by it.

Actually Morgoth in Equestria predates Emperor's Child. It doesn't take itself very seriously at all, though in the beginning I intended it to be serious, though that all went right to hell literally the paragraph Morgoth showed up in Equestria. And I'm trying to hold as true to lore as possible, the Silmarillion is more or less my bible.
As for all that other stuff... I find myself humbled by your words. I acted without thought and without consideration for my readers. All the justifications I had for my actions yesterday feel completely inadequate now, mostly because I know they are. At the very least I should have kept it up as a cautionary example. I probably won't be able to put it back up here again, I never had a saved copy of the prose version and i'd have to go back and edit it all out of greentext format, but it'll always be up on my pastebin account which I've linked on my user page. And I'm sure I know all the complaints you have about my shoehorning of 40K fanfiction into my story, but bear in mind this was written for a significantly smaller audience with a much more specific level of knowledge about the series and fandoms. And, getting right down to it, though they may not know this, I actually tailored this story for one friend in particular, who's opinion I value above any other's, and I would find myself coming up with ideas with "What would he think about this?" at the forefront of all my concerns about anything I ever put down. So, in truth, I suppose this story was written for an audience of a single person, and only they would really be able to appreciate every little detail I put in, but I also just wanted to share the story with others in the hopes they'd enjoy it. But I suppose doing that may have been what ultimately lead to the story's downfall. I spent so much time worrying about what someone else would like and forgot to write for myself.
So I suppose there's a lesson to be learned in all of this, one I thought I already knew. Write, first and foremost, for yourself. If other people happen to like it, then that's a bonus. And thank you so much for taking the time to help me realize that. You've done me a great service.
Sadness, sadness, sadness, sadness, sadness. I was always checking to see if that story had updated, too. I really liked it and got a hell of a lot of good laughs out of it.
Man, I picked a bad week to quit drinking.
Emp's kids in Equest was one of the highest rated stories (In my mind, atleast) on the damn site. Random as all hell and funny as all fuck.
I'm honestly unsure if this isn't part of some elaborate prank where anon finally returns anew because Fulgrim throws him out of the warp because he pissed on the carpet. Or Cuz Draigo turned up and they started snorting warp dust off...I dunno, everything?
Shut up Farle, you sound like such a fanboy.
Fuck you brain!
Dats okay. Didn't 'av enove Dakka, fer my tastes. Nah, I'm messin' wit ya. Keep up te good work, 'umie.
