How can the police system be reformed in the US? As in fix the police system.
Disbanding them entirely would be insane. Unless, you want violent gangs to control your communities? Yet, at the same time you do not want the police to be completely useless.
If the police were disbanded, what would you have to keep order? Religious zealot inquisitors? Militia? Mob rule with show trials and guilty before proven innocent. What would you replace the police with to stop anarchy?
A long video but i think the principles in it are sound.
The police system has to be reform where the consequence are more severe then letting them go when something happens
This comes as a response to what the city council of Minneapolis voted, isn’t it? Well, I’m order to answer the question on what happens if local police gets disbanded, usually this leads for the county law enforcement to be as a “replacement” for local police, until a new reformed local department Is in place. If nothing else, the county will continue to enforce the law in Minneapolis.
I don't think they need to be disbanded. I think that the internal affairs department needs to become a separate agency from the police force and become an independent government agency that's basically the police of the police. The Army did it when they made the Air Force its own thing, police departments can do it too. That way, you have people outside of the police that actually investigate police misconduct and can hold them accountable.
