*********

Hey, guys! Here is my review of Avengers: Infinity War, the best MCU film ever made, directed, and written in the whole universe! I mean, wow! Talk about a MAJOR improvement of and step-up from Age of Ultron! Throughout the whole film, I enjoyed every second of this movie. The even higher stakes than before, an intelligent, powerful villain, well-written characters, compelling story-telling, and so much more! Here is what I really enjoyed and loved in this film:

The villain: Let’s start off with the man of the movie: Thanos. Like I said in one of my latest blogs, he is one of the few movie antagonists who actually impressed me and amazed me. But he is not just any powerful villain; he also has depth of character, emotions, actual motivations, empathy, and actual competence. He is not your generic evil mustache-twirling baddie. He is really a “villain” who has good intentions for the things he did although it resulted in half of the population in the whole universe being wiped out. For example, when you watch the scene where he had to sacrifice his daughter to obtain that infinity stone, you can see him shed a couple of tears. Not only did he speak iconic quotes such as “The hardest choices require the strongest wills.” but he also LIVED those quotes. Live what you preach if you will. Another thing is that he had adequate amount of screen time that gave him a chance to develop more as a villainous character and for us to understand him more. We can see the whole psychology of Thanos in this film. Although he is a CGI character, he is a REAL person. He behaves, thinks, and talks like how a real person would. Another thing is the fact that he isn’t too overpowered or too underpowered. He actually felt pain from those hits he got from our heroes and almost lost in a few battles. Still, he managed to overcome our heroes and to finally win at the end. Not many villains earned that kind of victory or were able to succeed in defeating the heroes. THAT is how you subvert expectations in the most satisfying way! *stares at the Grogar twist* And that is not how you do it. Anyway, every time I watch the ending of this film, I feel emotional. I mean, just look at how Thanos gazes into the sunset after he accomplished his goal. It’s like... he finally did it. It is one of my favorite scenes in this film. Thanos is my second favorite villain next to Heath Ledger’s Joker. Props to Josh Brolin for his excellent voicing acting as Thanos.

2). The story: The story was very exciting, easy to follow, and full of higher stakes than what happened before. It actually took me on a ride from everything going peaceful and quiet to war, trouble, chaos, and ultimately... destruction. Seriously, this film and Spiderman 2 are Marvel’s answers to The Dark Knight.

3). The heroes: They were much better here than from the last movie. Plus, I liked seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, War Machine, Thor, Doctor Strange, and much more characters coming together to face their common enemy and his children. Instead of needlessly shoehorning every single bit of forced humor that a teenager would find unfunny, they thankfully integrated serious moments in the film while balancing the well-timed jokes our characters said. One example would be how they interact with Thanos. Remember this exchange of dialogue:

Iron Man: You know me?
Thanos: I do. You’re not the only one cursed with knowledge.
Iron Man: My only curse is you.

You see that? That indicates how seriously they take our villain. That’s because he’s not like other baddies who are complete jokes in being incompetent, constantly utter evil one-liners, “Muahhahahaha!! I will take over the world!!”, not intimidating, and have downright awful stupidity. Oh, and Spider-Man was in this. That’s cool I guess. In fact, I tolerate him more in this film than in his movies. I’ll talk about those some other time.

4). The Soundtrack: It was actually great and sent chills to my spine whenever there was an action scene. Speaking of which...

5). The Action: It was well-made and fantastic. The fight choreography was stunningly beautiful with great visuals and awesome CGI. Oh, the climax finally doesn’t take place in a city! It seems our Avengers have learned their lessons from Civil War after all.

6). The deaths: Lastly, the aftermath of Thanos’s snap was... shocking. Half of our characters are turned to dust, and all hope seems lost. Tell me, how did you guys reacted when he actually snapped his fingers with his Infinity Gauntlet? Just... amazing. To be honest, I was actually rooting for Thanos to win. Boy, I was so satisfied. What? Am I not allowed to root for a villain?

Overall, this film is a cinematic masterpiece that gets an 11/10 from me. I count this as my favorite MCU movie out of them all. Any thoughts on this film? Oh, and great memes came out of this.

Peace.

One of the rare moments where the villain wins. Personally, I refer to this movie as “Marvel’s Infinity War” or “Marvel’s Thanos”.

I have an Infinity Gauntlet that can move very well, allowing me to snap. It also has removable stones :P. It’s inside skeleton is rubber while most of the outside is actually metal. It’s a pretty accurate cosplay.

Anyway, can’t wait for the Endgame review.

I'd like to be honest about this:

When I saw this movie in theaters and had to wait a whole year for "Endgame" to come, I hated Thanos so much! I hated the fact that he won, how everything seemed to go in his favor like he was a Gary Stu, everything! Ever since then, I was obsessed with seeing his head chopped off and put on a platter one day. Imagine my surprise when I saw that my wish was granted in "Endgame", the only thing missing being the platter.

I think he's a great villain and I admire him as that, but as the so called "main character" of the movie, he hardly got any sympathy or like out of me.

If that’s the case, then the primary purpose has been fulfilled. That’s what villains are for: to be hated. Of course, in a good way since they are supposed to be villains whom we love to hate. Thanos is my second favorite villain because of what he had accomplished and the way he was written in the film. I disagree with the Gary Stu part, but we have our own opinions.

Honestly, I felt the same way you felt when Sentinel Prime killed Ironhide in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. You might not have seen it, but that’s exactly how I felt... HATE and ANGER for the villain!
